ATP International Series - St Petersburg Open 2008 ($1,049,000) - R1: Andy vs Victor Troicki

Andy has never played the Serb before, so there's no head-to-head.  He's not to be underestimated, but I shouldn't think Andy will be too troubled...

*  There's some interesting news from their quarter of the draw:  Jérémy Chardy, a Frenchman we're probably more used to seeing at Challenger level (currently ranked 74 in the world), has just beaten Mario Ancic, the seventh seed, 76-4 3-6 6-4! eyepopping.gif

Different quarter of the draw, but now Marin Cilic, the fifth seed, is out as well, beaten 6-7(4) 6-4 6-7(6) by the Kazakh qualifier, Mikhail Kukushkin! disbelief.gif

Not a good day at all for seeds in St P today:  now the Czech second seeds in the doubles, Martin Damm & Pavel Vizner, have gone out 4-6 6-3 [5-10] to Michal Mertinak & Lovro Zovko (SVK/CRO)! disbelief.gif

The preceding match kicks off at noon our time and Andy will be back on the same court in the next match but one, to play his first-round doubles match with Delgo against the fourth seeds, Booty & Frantisek Cermak.  The match in between, Safin vs Stakhovsky, is scheduled to kick off at 16.00 BST...
