I managed to get the day off today, and caught some of the matches. First off, Jade Curtis took the first set of her match and it was one all in the second when I had to leave so we might just have another playerr in R2. The Ren-Wong match was very close with Jennifer having bp's to lead in the first set and also breaking when Wong tried to serve out the match first time round, in the end she just came up short but looks to be improving. I was also surprised at how tall she is, i'm 5'9.5" and she looked to be about the same if not taller. Windley did a good job of clawing her way back into the match after being a set and a break down and showed some fine form even leading by a break twice in the first set. I also saw a little bit of Elliott's match were she looked like she barely broke sweat the match was over so quickly.
All bar one of the Brit losses here were to be expected given the ranking/quality of the opponent. Anna's loss is very disappointing though - Haberkorn has lost to Natasha Khan and Samantha Vickers in her last 2 tournies. Let's hope Jade hangs on to balance the expected wins/losses
Andrea Hlavackova (Cze) bt Amanda Elliott (Gbr) 6-0 6-1
That'll be a no, then.

Yeah in what i saw of Amanda's match it didn't look remotely close. I arrived just as she was being broken for 1-3 in the second and from there on Hlavackova cruised, not giving Amanda a chance to get back into the match. Jade's result is a real shame it seems to have been close, hopefully in the future she'll be able to squeeze through those kind of matches.
