A few dicey moments from the pair during the tie-break, but eventually it all came good. A very good win after such a drought for Jamie. I'm really pleased for him, especially as I'd given them virtually no chance of winning. Then again, what do I know? - nowt!
I'm stunned - & delighted for the boys! Great maiden win for the partnership! I had to go into a meeting at 11.30, just after they took the first set 6-0. The meeting lasted for an hour & 20 minutes & I was convinced I was going to get back to my PC to find that they'd bottled the second set & then crashed out in an MTB. What a pleasant shock to discover that exactly the opposite was the case! Well done to the pair.
Next on the agenda: a quarter-final encounter with the French WCs, Thierry Ascione & Marc Gicquel, who saw off Rodders & Ginepri 2&4 yesterday. I sincerenly hope that, having done the hard bit of disposing of the fourth seeds, they don't go & fall flat on their @rses against ostensibly easier opposition!
As for the possibility of Lindstedt being a more permanent partner for Jamie, he has a similar profile to Max: he's right-handed & 31 (though actually 4 months older - & a couple of inches shorter & ranked 6 places higher! ). If, however, he's both available & amenable to the idea - &, far more important, I should have thought - that they can play this & a tournament or two more together & really gel, then Jamie could well be on to something...

I fear he's only ranked higher than Max because he hasn't spent the last nine months playing with Jamie Murray...
Lindstedt often teams up with Nieminen in the Grand Slams & a few other tournaments, so I would suspect it will depend on how firm that commitment may be. Another player who is firmly in the doubles camp might hold out more appeal for Robert, if he is trying to make his way in the two-man event. Will be interesting to see what happens.
Just posted this on another thread - have heard today from Colin fleming's sister that jamie has approached him. Colin wants to improve his ranking over the next couple of months but I would say a definite partnership for next season.

Messrs Ascione & Gicquel up next.
'Tis tomorrow afternoon on court 1. No sign of H&H.
