Excellent result!! No seeds left in his half now.

Wish him luck in his QF from us. Fingers crossed it's against Thornley.

Great results for the Brits yesterday, even Flan decided to pull his finger out! biggrin The Skupster gave Wardy some lessons on how to overpower Marti (who is not ranked 320 Steven confused) . Great result for Willis today, and the title is there for the taking for anyone now, with only one non-Brit seed left, and Skupski has a good chance aginst him today.

You're right, he's ranked 859. Steveg had been updated before I did that post (unusual these days) so I got the draw with rankings from http://steveghelper.com/MatchResults.php?countries=gbr&players=&weektype=this&weeks=&from_date=&weeks_back=

where it says #575Kenneth Skupski (GBR) vs#320 (q)Javier Marti -- it
(ESP)

It looks like the rankings lookup used to produce that page managed to confuse Javier Marti with Javier Genaro-Martinez, who is ranked 320. I should have spotted it though, since it was so obviously too high.

Timely for Marcus as he loses 5 of his 6 points this week

He's only played half a dozen senior events in the last year of course, much less than Cox (22) and Smethurst (16), who were born within a month of him. I assume he's going to be playing a lot more senior events from now on, now that he has turned 18 and he certainly seems to have some talent so with luck we'll see him start to rise up the rankings again very soon.

Unfortunately Marcus's win is the only good result so far:

Marcus Willis (Gbr) bt Simone Vagnozzi (Ita) 7-5 6-4

Daniel Danilovic (Mne) bt Andoni Vivanco-Guzman (Spa) 6-2 7-6 (7-4)

Miloslav Mecir (Svk) bt Ian Flanagan (Gbr) 7-5 3-6 6-3
