I assume he was in as a lucky loser, too, as Coll was scheduled to play the Swede, Patrik Rosenholm! Nothing like grabbing your chances with both hands when (& if) they present themselves! I guess his win & Colin's - & maybe Skups' over the Spanish Wunderkind, too! - kind of make up for the defeats of Illingworth & Smethurst.
Congratulations to Neil for taking advantage of the LL and getting his 2nd ranking point
Think Jamie perhaps suffering from a lack of match practice...although, perhaps understandably, he hasn't been the same sice that horrible illness. Is worth making the point that his opponent won his last event including a win over Fleming.

(*) the only R2 match with no GB interest
Just to echo the comments about it being a bit of a crazy day, there seem to be more matches that went against rankings than with them in the R1 list!
An almost unbelievably good win for Pauffley against Rafa's Wimbledon hitting partner, great to see Colin take out the no. 2 seed so comprehensively, Flan taking out the no. 5 seed to show yet again that he might well be able to reach the top 500 at last if he played more often and a good win for the Skupster after a lean period recently.
Even the GB v GB matches resulted in the odd shock - I didn't expect Thornley to beat Bam-Bam, let alone thrash him, and Willis v Cox went against rankings too, though I thought Meatball would win when I saw the draw just as I thought Evo would have too much for Cox.
The only big disappointment was Jamie's loss, but the length of time he's been out makes that less of a shock and at least he was competitive in the sets, but to get more wins than losses in R1 of a Future where we have only two of the seeds can't be bad!
Outside the bottom quarter, we need some more shocks in R2, because the five Brits are all lower-ranked than their opponents. Hopefully Luncanu won't manage to spoil the GB party in the bottom quarter!
