As far as I can see it is nothing to do with the ITF, just played for prestige and medals.

Good news - Heather bags a gold! Here's a report from the Indian Express

"Kyara Shroff wrapped up India's CYG campaign by bagging the silver in the girls singles tennis at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex at Balewadi. Kyara was defeated by Heather Watson of Guernsey 1-6 2-6 in the final that lasted less than an hour.

Heather broke Kyara's serve twice to take a 5-0 lead in the first set and then held on to her serve to pocket the set.

In the second set too, the Guernsey girl broke the Indian's serve twice to take a 4-0 lead and then wrapped up the set and the match 6-2. "

Well done Heather...

LTA report...

Heather Watson won the girls singles gold medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games over the weekend in Pune, India.

Representing Guernsey, Watson cruised to victory without dropping a set in the entire competition. In the final, the 16 year-old defeated the No 7 seed, Kyra Shroff of India, 6-1 6-2 in front of a vocal home crowd.

Lisa Whybourn and Jade Windley also returned home with a medal winning bronze for England in the girls doubles. Having lost in the semi-final, the pair bounced back to beat Tanvi Shah and Rasmi Teltumbde of India 6-1 6-3 in the third/fourth place play-off.
