Anne now down a double break at *4-1 and I cannot see any way back now as Kutuzova has tightened up her game.

From what I could tell from the livestream, this match was pretty much all about Kutuzova. She was hitting a lot of winners right from the start but for the first set and half was also making plenty of UE's. When she tightened up her game and cut out the errors Anne didin't seem to have much of an answer. cry

Anne and Kelly lost as well: 6-4 5-7 [10-6] to the 3rd seeds Barbora ZS and Andrea Hlavackova

TennisForum poster Pavlova said this of Anne's match:

"Keothavong's serve was pretty solid. 1st serve is placed well and is fairly flat. 2nd serve is a bit of kicker, and is always deep, which meant Kutuzova couldn't attack nearly as much as she would have liked. Anne's strategy seemed to be; keep in the rallies as long as possible, and wait for her to implode. It worked well enough for a set and a half, but when Vika started making fewer silly mistakes, Anne could only watch the winners whizz by."

shame for Anne but Kutuzova is a streaky player so you never know what might happen with her.
