RE: Week 41 - ITF 50K - Barnstaple, Great Britain

All very winnable ties for the Brits in the singles except for Yasmin, if she beats Vinci I will drive all the way to Barnstaple to shake her hand. Katie v Amanda is a tough one to call, but I imagine Katie will be low on confidence and Amanda will be the opposite. Anne and Bally both should win, as should Anna if she plays anywhere near as well as she did in the first set and a half against Ani in Shrewsbury. With Laura you never really know I suppose because she is so young she will be inconsistent. It will be hard for Tash to beat Boffa, and she has done well to get this far.

PS If the organiser want to actually attract people to the tournament it might be good for them to post an OOP on their website...

Is it me or is this strong field for a 50k event?

4 inside the top 100 and another 3 inside the top 150. with the 8th seed being 159.

I'm not expecting much from Laura this week. Hoping to be surprised but if the draw goes to ranking then it's pretty tough.

All good experience though. One would assume this maybe Laura's last event of the season?

I read somewhere she is keen to play AO juniors which is good for me as i should get to see her play.

Your assumption forgets the fact there are some Octagon tournaments left this year. wink

First wave of tickets go on sale on Thursday. I'm undecided about how far to go because the prices have gone up by a good margin from last year.

So you think Luxembourg Tier III is likely? (Salmon mentioned it as a possibility a couple of months ago)

Personally I don't quite get why they are so defensive about her. If you win junior Wimbledon at 14 then you are going to get a lot of hype so just get used to it. If they wanted to avoid the hype then she shouldn't have entered junior Wimbledon.

If she thinks she can keep that sort of company, playing the seventh seed here should be a walk in the park.

Something to cheer at last: Natasha Khan won her final qualifying match 6-1 4-6 6-4 biggrin and plays Brianti in the main draw.

Khan lost to Brianti 6-4 6-2. (The LTA site seems to be the first to provide updates.)
