That's a good interview, and I'm impressed that he seems to be very honest about why it didn't work out with Max and what went wrong in the DC rubber. I never had an issue with him not sticking around for the Andy's US Open Final and what he says about that makes perfect sense.
I think all most of us have been saying on this thread (albeit perhaps a bit too cheekily in my case!) is that the decision to chase instant success with an older top player was a mistake (and I think it's fair enough for us to say that, because many of us were saying it from time he switched) - I was really impressed with Booty and Stretch when they played together, and if he tries to choose his next partner for all the right reasons (e.g. someone of a similar age and playing level where they can work their way up together as equals) instead of chasing a big name and puts the hard work in, I'm sure he can get right back on track.

The fact that Andy didnt play ought to have been irrelevant. I should have put in a hard shift, but I didnt and that hurt me, he said.
Unforgivable imo, who the hell does he think he is? Andy wasn't playing so he "didn't put in a hard shift". Needs bringing down a peg or two imo. We have guys who would bust a gut to play the Davis Cup doubles and this prima dona thinks he can choose who he plays with????

A great interview there, I'm the first to confess that I'm not Jamie's biggest fan but that impressed me. It would seem that he has had to learn his lessons the hard way and I very hope that he can find "the perfect match" in time for Australia and start to fulfil the potential that he clearly has. Interesting that he has split with his coach as well, hopefully he can find someone else who helps him to find the consistency that is lacking in his game.
Perhaps there can be a Booty and Stretch reunion? (I believe Booty is partnerless at the moment as well) If a difference in work ethic was the problem it would appear (from this interview) that that may no longer be the case.

It is now open knowledge that Jamie & Max have split, I am just wondering who Jamie will play with next!!!??? I have a few ideas below -
Paes Dlouhy Ullyett (Favourite)
Other than those 3 I have no other ideas except British players, which for Davis Cup would be a massive benefit but I think Jamie would see this as below him.

Won't be Ullyett, who will be playing with Bruno Soares next year.
Murray's running out of options, as there aren't many top players left available
Have heard today from Colin fleming's sister that Jamie has approached Colin about being his partner again. Colin wants to concentrate on getting his ranking up in the next couple of months, but I would say that this will be the definite pairing from the AO onwards.
In some ways that sounds like a very sensible long-term decision by Jamie, but I hope Colin isn't going to sacrifice his singles career for this.
Also, isn't it going to take a while for Colin to get even his doubles ranking up to the level where they can get DAs into ATP events though, or is Jamie thinking of dropping down to play Challenger doubles for a bit?

LOL yes, that'd be right! Maybe not as many as Jamie thinks though.
I think it would be a very positive development and would suggest that Jamie was taking a more realstic, long-term approach too, but Colin's more than capable of becoming a good Challenger level (at least) singles player in my opinion, so for his sake I hope he doesn't sacrifice that possibility before giving it a proper go - unless he thinks he can hold his own in ATP qualifying and make his way up that way of course. An all-GB doubles pairing with one of them able to be a realistioc choice as third singles player too would be great for DC.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens with this one.

Excerpt from Jamie's blog on his site: (thought I'd check)
I spent most of last week at Roehampton but put in a day at a plush club in Chelsea, simply because it was tough to get courts at NTC. The place we went was pretty nice - not a bad place to be a member of! But - think I might need to win a few more matches before I could join there!
> you'd think the Murray name would help him get court time at the NTC wouldn't you
What else has been happening? Went out for dinner with Colin Fleming who's just starting back playing tennis after a couple years out. That was on Wednesday. I lose track. Anyway, we used to play doubles together before he decided to go finish his degree and start working.
Maybe we'll even play again in the future if he gets his ranking back up to where it was before. I hadn't seen him forever and it was good to catch up, even if his banter is marginal!
This actually sounds more realistic - reading between the lines, my guess is that rather than starting after the AO, they might team up for the grass court season (when they would get WCs) if Jamie still hasn't gelled with anyone else by then and Colin is back near his career high, and carry on playing together if that goes well. Still, it's good that they're thinking about the possibilities and that Jamie isn't just thinking about trying to grab another big name (and drag their ranking down ) - I think it might well pay off a few years down the track.

Vemic is a strange one, I think he is planning to turn doubles specialist in 2009 after getting to the semis of RG and the quarters of USO this year (as well as winning 5 challengers) and not doing so well in singles.
