BBC reports that Lloyd is looking to see what surface would best suit our guys. Also becuse it is during the hard court season Glasgow or Birmingham would be best suited.
To my despair Crufts is at the Birmingham NEC 5-9th March 2009. They have several 'halls' but only one main 'arena'.
Noooo, not the north-west! (he says selfishly and hopefully)
I was wondering about venues being booked up, it's not that surprising that a few of them already are. We spend a week in Hall 5 at the NEC exhibiting at a trade fair each year (I'd rather be watching tennis there, I have to say!) - it's cavernously huge ... and more to the point, the GBR v NED tie was held there.
However, if Crufts is on at the NEC at the same time, I can see the "British Tennis going to the Dogs" headlines already ...

Booo...
Any reason in particular?! Surely the North-West is one of the most deprived areas [alongside the NE and Scotland] in terms of spectator tennis, despite having a very strong base of clubs and players.
is it? i stayed in a big country mansion/hotel just outside manchester once a few years back and it was played there (not whilst i was staying tho), they had loads of photos and stuff in the halls etc.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go to all 3 days of this one wherever it is. I'd quite like a little sorty to Glasgow although Birmigham would be most convenient to me.
Shall we sticky this thread?

They used the NIA in Birmingham for GB vs US back in the late 90's.
Henman/Rusedski vs Courier/Martin.
Best tennis I've ever seen.
Oh yes, fabulous stuff - that's the tie that confirmed me as a big DC fan ... and the failure of any tie to live up to it since (though the away tie against Morocco was full of drama) still hasn't put me off wanting to be there in case it ever happens again - hopefully with us winning it next time!
Tigger was quoted recently as saying that win against Todd 'that boring old fart' Martin was the high point of his DC career. (he didn't call him tbof, I hasten to add!)

This is how i see the list of current DC possibile candidates line up, in order:
Singles: Andy M (1) Jamie B (2) Alex B (3) Josh G (4) Rich B (5) Alex S (6) James W (7)
Doubles: Andy M (1) Jamie M (2) Ross H (3) Josh G (4) Alex B (5)
for the singles 2-3 can swap quite quickly, depending on health, form going into the tie and media pressure (to not pick alex). i put boggp in the dubs list, cause with a decent partner he can play dubs ok.
