RE: Davis Cup - Euro Africa Zone I 2009

Just a thought but do you think that Lloyd would ask Andy just to play on the Sunday singles...im sure Andy would rather not play 3 rubbers in between the end of the indoor hard and just before the first outdoor hard AMS ?

That way he could pick 1 dubs specialist (Jamie for ex) and two singles players and Andy.

The thought being if we needed Andy to beat SS on the Sunday morning to win he would be there.

For example Baker & Boggo play Friday singles with one of the singles players playing Dubs with Jamie M. We should be at least 2-1 up. We should still win 1 match on the Sunday which would give us the tie.

If we were 1-2 down we bring Andy in to play the Sun AM singles v SS and the other singles is a gimmie surely ?

So this would give two Brits a chance of playing live rubbers (Does not have to be Baker / Boggo I just used them as an example) and getting wins and it keeps Andy farily fresh only having to play 1 singles if at all.

I am sure that you can swap players after the initial draw as long as its only the 4 names playing team members.

Woudl this work or is it even allowed ?

From the BBC....

'It is likely that Lloyd will therefore choose a hardcourt surface for the visit of Ukraine, making Glasgow or Birmingham more likely to host the tie than Wimbledon.'

Cmon Lloyd go for Birmingham !!!

That way I can get away for the 3-4 days...if it was in Glasgow then im sure the wife would be saying 'just travel every day' !
