Ukraine at Home 8-10 May or earlier...good !

That was a nice draw. I will be there !

Nice. Hopefully Andy plays and they pick the surface he wants to play on.

May is a real tricky month in the callender.

So who would we play against...

UKRAINE

83 Stakhovsky, Sergiy
213 Marchenko, Ilia
285 Bubka, Sergei
336 Sergeyev, Ivan
415 Dolgopolov Jr., Oleksandr

At home, we'd win with Andy and have an even chance without him.

Ukraine were promoted from EA II this year, beating Egypt 5-0, Ireland 3-2 and Portugal 5-0.

If Baker boy was fit and had some form going into this then I would pick :

Andy Murray
Jamie Baker
Jamie Murray
Josh Goodall / Bogdanovic or maybe even one of the young guys depending on form / results.

I would love to see Boggo win a live DC rubber but he may make it easier if he opts to miss this anyway. In late April he reached a CH QF and also in early May.
Thats 13 or 14 points that he may have to lose if he were to play.

personally i cant see them agreeing to a swtich. andy will want the tie on clay if he even agrees to play mid may. and the Ukrainains will want clay as thats what they choose last time anyway.

if andy plays would he be prepared to play all 3 days? i am not sure which still means we need a win else where. would any of our No 2's bt Sthak on day 1? probably not. i belive boggo has a good record against him but on clay i dotn see it.

aslo drew i think that April for Alex was in 07 not this year.

Because it's in between Rome AMS and Madrid AMS and he isn't going to want to switch from clay to indoor hard then straight back again.

What are you saying? The LTA will actually spend some money to give us a better chance of winning wink

Expect the ticket prices to go up even further if they do.

Let's play it in Glasgow, and let the Tartan Army in free; real vocal support, guaranteed win, the Ukrainians might not even stay till the end!

I agree. When I was on Henman Hill for the Murray/Haas game the only people being vocal were a group of (admitted, well watered) scots. Don't know how great the support would be for Boggo though!

FYI chaps and ladies - the tie will be played in March 6-8. The dates have been shifted by the ITF
