If Bloomers has perfected a cloning machine, then Kevin Anderson has taken it to new heights, if the singles draw on the tournament site is anything to go by: it's such a useless source of information about the results that it has him down to play himself in NINE R1 matches AND Andrea Stoppini (the player Bloomers beat in the first round!), David Guez, Andrey Golubev, Prakash Armritraj [sic] & Josh in five of the others!
quick get Andy going on it tonight, probably our best chance of getting back in the world group again
Plus, if there was still any need for him to have teammates, he could go away to have a better view and still stay around to support them. It's perfect
Boggo v Boggo would be a scintialting 1st set, going to TB then several sets of dudgery as both try their best to lose.
And here we are at 22-22 in the fhe final set of this amazing Wimbledon 1st round match. Both players have had numerous break point and even match point chances, but seemed to fling many of them away for no good reaason.
Recently, the trainer has ben on, having to treat both players and there are real fears that neither may be able to continue, handing a second round W/O for their potentail opponent.
That would be such a pity as each player was looking for their first ever 2nd round appearance, and to come so close. However, that would just sum up how it has gone over the years for those two amazingly similar players.
Unfortuantely Alex Bogdanic and Alex Bogdanovic both had to simultaneously retire from their 1st rond match at Wimbledon.
This gives their prospective 2nd round opponent, Robert Dee, a W/O into the last 32.
Robert progressed into the last 32 after Marat Safin defaulted in their first round match when 6-0, 5-0 up, throwing racquets and mouthing obsenities about Wimbledon becoming an absolute joke and he expected serious tennis matches.
Dee was a surprise pick for a Wimbledon wildcard in the first place. Although usually just British top 250 ranking players are considered, Roger Draper said that he had been watching Dee for some time and was impressed with his perserverance, and with yet another win recently following his first win just 2 years ago, there were signs of a new consistency in his game
Indeed he could see Dee now joining Andy Murray as a second British player ranked in the top 500. So who said Britain was not making any progress ?
Indeed it was particularly clear that Dee had his own very individual technique, which made him stand out from many other players. Draper said he felt that there were two many players around who were just sort of clones of each other.
Apparently John Llyoyd, who Draper continues to feel is doing a fantastic job, despite Britain's three consecutive relegations is now looking at Dee, considering him for the upcoming relegation play-off with Andorra.
He feels that the last 32 match-up with Rafael Nadal will be an interesting contest with each bringing their own respective sterngths to the match. This match will start on Centre Court at 1 pm and the following match may start fairly soon afterwards.
At stake would likely be a last 16 match with Kevin Anderson of South Africa, who was progressing quietly through the rounds beating players very similar to himself.
It is not yet clear whether Andy Murray will be available for the Andorra match ( remember he unfortunately had to miss the last match in Uzbeckistan owing to celerating the first birthday of his and Kim's first child, Juan Martin ).
So, there may be an additional Davis Cup place available, which John Lloyd feels Robetr Dee could be the man to take. Lloyd admits it would be taking a gamble, but as he says Britain would not be where it is just now without some of his gambles.
He could also offer Doubles cover if Jamie Murray continues with tiredness he has been reporting recently. This he finds strange, because everything he says has been fine during long sessions he has been having with his new wife, Jelena.
