Well folks i must say this media centre is just great. There must be over 100 press desks with everything you need to pretend you know something about tennis !
Almost never got in this morning. Typically you might say the LTA sent me a letter with the wrong gate number on it. So after speaking to about a dozen people and got in...what a carry on !!!
I ended up walking from the tube station last night at midnight 15 mins to my B&B...not a cab to be seen. Also walked the mile from my B&B to here this morning...going to loose weight this weekend thats for sure.
Sitting 4 desks from Neil Harman. He and Jonathan Overand were having a good laugh at one of the newspaper headlines.... 'Bog-standard'...which is typcial drivel from what ever rag printe it. Neil is really hoping that Boggo can win. JO is less hopeful.
"....Which is why the progress of those in their mid and late teens needs to be swift. Lloyd chose to co-opt three who have just come out of the junior system - Dan Cox, Marcus Willis and Dan Smethurst - into the squad so they could sense a little of the special atmosphere that the Davis Cup engenders.
The first three nights, they shared a room at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, southwest London, and on Wednesday they were allowed the full trappings of the Chelsea hotel that is the team's base. Today, they head for an ATP Futures tournament in Spain, with ranking points and experience on the menu and no room service available."
Well folks the weather was good some of the tennis from Boggo early on was top 30 quality and Murray won whilst bordering on boring.
There was more excitement, guts, ding-dong rallies, winners in the first set and a half of the first match today than all of the second. Believe me sometimes the crowd were so quiet during the Murray match.
In the end though Murray sailed through whilst Boggo wilted.
Met Imoen, Steven and Count today for the first time and it was my pleasure.
Last part of my day 1 blog....well its actually Day 2....very early AM but never mind.
Steven and I went out for some Thai food tonight and spent a couple of hours talking tennis. It was just good to talk about the sport I love without the other person wanting to change the subject. Well maybe Steven did but he certainly like to talk tennis.
Looking forward to meeting Shedman tomorrow...I think. Steven was going to give my the low down on the man but decided to let me find out for myself.
Hope you have enjoyed all the day 1 banter, reports etc.
