Truly excellent from Laura even given Kundalini's theory. Hopefully her team will only let her play when she gets out of bed the right side. Looks like a 14 year old will be left to fly the flag unless Bally's made a miraculous recovery.
I'm surprised Obziler (the 4th seed, not 2nd, Steven) beat Coin as I was not that impressed with her against Vickers, but maybe she was playing within herself then. I would back Laura to beat her, but being 21 years older, Obziler has experience on her side!
Fantastic win from Laura. I think what Kundalini says is very valid but the mere fact that we (as Brits) have one of those "talented 14 year olds" is still sinking in for me!
I've been very impressed with Laura and her team so far, and I hope that the sense in scheduling and media involvement continues.

35 year old Obziler hit her career high of 75 only last year so it is going to be a match between the ultimate in early developers against the ultimate in late developers - should be interesting.
Radwanska didn't to herself any favours as from the second game she started smashing her rackets and screaming at the umpire phrases like:
"zee ball wez in. eez it becuz she iz englisz that you call it in?"
... which particularly got the crowd against her, whilst Laura had to turn around as she was laughing about it herself.
Lol, thats hilarious, poor Ula. At just 17 herself, it can't have been easy for her playing against a 14yo wonderkid who is in her first pro tournament in her home country.
Hi all, just joined this site after following a link on the BBC606 forum.
Amazing win for Laura!
and thanks to all those who are keeping us up to date on the results from this tourny, both texters and textees!
Welcome to the site. It's a real eye-opener for anyone interested in the whole breadth of british tennis.
Every time there's a headline grabber (be it Laura, Chris Eaton, Robert Dee or Bebogate) I always hope to see new faces (errr...usernames) attracted to the site. I like to think of it as an indicator of support for grass-roots tennis and I long for the day when the balance is tipped and the popular media find it worth putting some effort into covering pro british (and international) events.
Wow. Didn't think laura would win that one. I was just happy to see her in round 2. Well done to her. She has nothing to prove in her next match given her age so i hope she doesn't feel under pressure. There's that real excitement factor about Laura and we want to see her do well. Let's hope she has a good team around her and isn't pushed too hard too soon. Plenty of time to shine but what a cracker.
