It is hard to guess what Laura's standard is at present. She is certainly the Princess of surprises. I would have guessed about 250 in the rankings so a close win against Sarah was possible but to be causing problems against a rapidly improving player just outside the top 100 is incredible.
Dame Flora ( sorry, but every time I hear or see Laura's name mentioned, I can't help but think of the late, great actress ) never ceases to amaze. Win or lose, she's definitely going to be a star.
Perhaps the title Dame is quite prescient in this case anyway ;)

More than just causing problems
L16: Laura Robson UNR beat Urszula Radwanska (POL) WR 128 by 6-3 6-3 - no. 4 seed Obziler or Coin next
This means that Laura would join the rankings in the top 700 if she gets even a point from her next event!
Bally is 4-6 2-5 v Voegele

If she can beat Radwanska, she should beat Coin or Obziler, most probably Coin though Obziler is the seed. Actually, that was the match that preceeded Laura's, any chance of texting Vamos to ask the winner Steven?

If you look at Michelle Larcher de Brito's results both this year and last year (and I'm not saying Laura is necessarily as good as MLDB but it is probably a better comparison than Oudin or one of the other top juniors who is a couple of years older and probably a lot stronger physically) then it appears clear that a talented 14 year old can beat top 100 players and also lose to players outside the top 500.
On here we tend to expect the higher ranked player to beat the lower ranked player but with these talented teenagers the rankings are just irrelevant. If they get out of bed in a bad mood then they'll struggle to get a set off someone ranked 800+, but if they happen to be feeling inspired, they could probably give most players outside the top 50 a decent match.
