RE: Week 38 - WTA Tier 1 - Tokyo, Japan

Srebotnik should by no means be in a qualifying draw and is a tough, tough match for Anne. HOWEVER, Let's recall Bally's win at the Aus Open and hope for similar. It's tough. I think I favour Srebotnik to win it personally but Anne has been on the up for a good while now so hopefully she won't stop now.

Agreed. but I think that there's always a chance against a player who's up-and-down and not quite an elite top 20 player in the game. Schiavone is a perfect example of that... Hope Anne is up for it tomorrow.

Anne took Srebotnik to a deuce or three in the first game but never had a bp, then got broken herself. Srebotnik then held to love (both dfs, I think) then got to 0-40 on Anne's serve, but Anne saved 4 bps in that game to get herself on the scoreboard.

1-3*

Srebotnik broke again in game 5 but Anne broke back at some point and had deuce on Srebotnik's serve at 3-5* but to no avail - 1st set to Srebotnik 6-3.
