Just spoke to Josh and he said that it threw him a little having to play at this time, he's never played a match at that time before and he did things all wrong with regard to eating/sleeping etc. and it left him feeling rough for the first set and a half. He was also a bit upset about the 3rd set, he was up a break and felt he had him beaten but lost concentration and made a few errors.

well hopefully he will learn from this as that is quite a weak excuse i feel. Considering the lvl of this event getting a player ranked lower than you in the opening rd was a bit of a kind draw and it leaves you feeling it was a missed chance to get 9 points in the bag and a crack at a top player.
Josh still has 50 or so points to defend this year so it wont be plain sailing if he wants to finish the year inside thee top 200.
obviusly we cany say how the opponents played, but on the face it would seem to back JL decision to go with Boggo over Josh for the DC.

would you belive it stoppini bt benny in straight sets!!
So this will be the 3rd time alex plays stoppini on the back of a 1st round hammering. the 1st 2 came out in favour of the Itailan, can boggo turn it around? decent points on offer if he can.
Stoppy has had a decent summer, reached the Aptos final, and got a win over clement and Kunistyn. he has a 3-0 H2H over alex. i would have preferred Benny in a way. another loss to a player like Stoppy wont be great fopr alex confidence. where as with benny it was more of a no lose situation really, however as i said above 21 points on offer and probably C.rochus in the qf's.

I hear what you're saying, but I don't think it was his intention to make excuses. He was pretty mad that he didn't take advantage of the draw and said regardless of any circumstances he still should have been able to win the match.

fair enough, as i say he needs to work out how to feel his best if he gets late matches again, i am a bit suprsied that he hasnt had one at that kinda time before considering how long he has been on the tour, and i guess its something us armchair fans/players dont really consider too mcuh.
do you know what he plans to do next week? did he enter anywhere or not hoping for a DC call up? maybe he cna play the GB futures, get a WC or qualfiy. its a bit below where he sohuld be of course, but there isnt much else around.
