Week 36 - Futures F13 (15k+H) - Bagneres-de-Bigorre, France

Eaton and Wardy in the main draw, while Skupski is on the Alts list. Surface is hard courts.

Entry list.

Field looks more like that of a Challenger minus the top 200 players!

This is a $15K +H event, so entries are more or less as expected.

Ward has withdrawn at some point in the last 2 hours then!!!

Shame to see him withdraw, but maybe he's going to try challenger qualies instead, and as he hasn't withdrawn from any of his other tournaments, it doesn't look any kind of injury.

Yes, it says he withdrew today. They update the lists twice a day, at 09 and 15 GMT I think it is.

I haven't been there for years, but Bagneres de Bigorre is a very nice place to be playing a tournament in, a mountain resort deep in the Pyrenees.

Think Wardy is just taking a time out to be honest, He's the top seed in Madrid on the 8th so surely he's preparing for that.

yeah Slabba played here last year said it was one of the best venues around.....shame Wardy didn't play though as courts are quite slow which would have suited him

It seems unlikely that the Skupster got in from 7th Alt, but the top seed in qualifying was below him on the Alts list so it's not impossible.

Hadn't realised Renavand was still to play today:

L16: (8) Chris Eaton WR 368 v Nicolas Renavand (FRA) WR 457

Renavand reached four Futures Finals in May/June ... but lost the lot. He has a very mixed record against Brits.

Just for the record, Chris Eaton & his French partner, Pierrick Ysern, beat the Mexican pair, Luís Manuel Flores & Antonio Ruíz Rosales, 4 & 4 to reach the QF of the doubles! smile

Good win for Chris, although a little closer than I'd have liked it to be.

He should reach the QF's here, and hopefully can give Guez a decent game there.
