With the Ratiwatana twins serving to stay in the match at *4-5, Murray/Hutch get to 15-40 and take their first match point, winning 6-3 1-6 6-4!
Chuffed for Ross, and now I'd expect them to lose in the next round keeping Andy fresh for the singles and everyone is happy. Ross gets some big points for winning this match and Andy gets a little extra court time without jeapordising his singles.

Yeah, I care - and I'm sure Lynne, Helki and Liz do, too, and probably lots of others. It's not like you to be patronising, Steven, though I suspect you wrote it with tongue well ensconced in cheek: this win may well have import both for Ross' career, and for our Davis Cup prospects.
Well done to them for winning, and great to see Ross get the 75 points, which for his doubles career is pretty good, while Andy gets some practice time on the court, but I don't think they'll get through the next round.
It could be a trial partnership for the Davis Cup, but I don't think Ross will/should be in the 4-man squad, as you'd assume Jamie Murray would be, and we can't go in with 2 specialist doubles players, as they wouldn't be guarenteed the win, and neither of them have a chance of winning a singles match (the USA can because the Bryans will win 95% of the matches, plus Bob Bryan, with his serve, can always sneak a singles match if desperate)
Yes, I care, especially as Ross is unable to pursue his singles career. I believe this would give him 75 points but he is defending 75 points in week 37 so needs to keep playing well to improve his ranking.
Is a Hutchins/Jamie Murray partnership likely to work?
You're quite right, DJ, I do care. It was a match I didn't expect they'd win, but win they did against a well-established pair. I'm pleased for Ross, and also impressed with Andy for entering the doubles with him. I shall Steven.

It wasn't meant to be patronising and of course I'm pleased for Ross ... and I did bother to check the result so must care a bit. Me putting it that way just betrays the fact that I can't fathom why Andy is playing doubles here when he intends to go deep in the singles draw. Having said that, the scheduling doesn't seem to have worked out too badly for him so far.

Part of Andy's after match (with Llodra) interview, posted on am.com forum (my bold):
Interviewer: No doubt a day off tomorrow, what will you do on your day off?
Andy: Probably play doubles. I think so.
Interviewer: Back to the office?
Andy: Yeah, exactly, I'm playing with Ross Hutchins, British guy who's going tobe on our Davis Cup team, so, you know, it's good, won our first match, I think we're going to play the top seeds tomorrow, so that will be fun.
