The US Open pick 'em will get under way in just over a week's time.
IMPORTANT DATES
The approximate timetable for the US Open pick 'em is:
Mon. 18 Aug 00.00 GMT (1 a.m. UK) - entries open for those who need to enter early with semi-'blind' picks - see the end of this post (*)
Thu. 21 Aug 22.00 GMT (11 pm UK) - main draw takes place
Fri. 22 Aug by early morning (UK) - main draw available on the entry form Edit: available now, draw was earlier than expected!
Sat. 23 Aug by early morning (UK) - qualifiers placed in the draw on the entry form (unless the end of qualifying is delayed by rain)
Mon. 25 Aug 15.00 GMT (4 pm UK / 11 am US Eastern) - entries close
Emails appropriate to the notification option selected by past entrants will be sent out at the relevant time to those who have asked for them.
(*) ENTERING EARLY WITH 'BLIND' PICKS
If you are interested in your overall pick 'em ranking, it is fairly vital to take part in the slam pick 'ems, since you can count your ranking point score from each slam pick 'em up to two times, so the entry form is already available at http://www.britishtennis.net/Competitions.html.
If you will be unable to enter after the main draw comes out, please feel free to fill in the entry form early to ensure that you get some ranking points from Wimbledon. If you do this, you will know where Fed & Rafa will be in the draw (assuming they both play) and which other slots will contain seeds, but otherwise you will be picking 'blind'.
So, please don't enter now unless you know that you will not have Internet access between Friday 25 morning and Monday 28 early afternoon UK. However, in that case picking virtually blind now might be better than nothing - at least you will have a pick 'em interest in some of the matches when you get back and a chance to score some ranking points - as far as your overall ranking is concerned, the worst your entry can do is become one of your non-counting scores, so there is nothing to lose by entering.
N.B. If you want to enter like this, please choose the team you would normally play for so that can be used for overall ranking purposes, but you will appear as an Independent on the US Open tables and, for this event only, your score will not count towards a team, though you should still select your usual team on the entry form.

Yes, top 250 in fact. I still don't think we'll quite get to 500 for the USO, but if we do:
1) The top 250 in the overall rankings will have their entries automatically accepted whenever they arrive, as long as it is before the deadline.
2) The first 250 entrants who are not in the top 250 (including newbies) will automatically get in too.
3) Any later entrants not in the top 250 will go on an Alternates list (in entry order) and will fill places not taken up by any of the top 250, though we may hold back some of those places to allow team captains (where they exist) to try maximise the number of teams with 5+ entrants.
There will certainly be no need to enter the US Open pick 'em before qualfiers are placed - indeed I would imagine that even in the unlikely event that we do go over 500 this time, you'll be fine as long as you don't leave it until Monday. If you would normally enter late in order to catch any late withdrawals, don't worry, if your original entry has made the cut, you will still be able to send a replacement entry near the deadline in that case.

Salmon - please pick sensibly this time !!!! Pick'em is getting closer than ever and by you and John virtually ruling yourselves out of the top 200 by silly picks before the competition has even started, ruins the team effort
Otherwise, I will change your usnername to "Rafael Nadal"
@ Count: any more cheek or I'll be posting some of those disgraceful pics when you were ratarsed in your student days
Fri. 22 Aug by early morning (UK) - main draw available on the entry form, with qualifiers placed
Having qualifiers placed on Friday morning would certainly be helpful for me as I am going away for a few days. However to do so you will have to be prescient, as qualifying is scheduled, as usual, to take place from Tuesday to Friday! Hence at best qualifiers will be placed by the early hours of Saturday morning (UK). Last year it was a day later because of rain.
