Nice finish - must have won about 10 points in a row there?

Cool for Mel.

Naomi's only real tennis issue is fitness and physical shape; if she can get that under control, she is talentwise top 100. Hope she does 'cos I love her game when she's on song and fit.

She'll play Fedossova next. I hadn't realised that she had fallen this much!

That's certainly a relief given Bally's chronic poor form in the States and Katie's strong opponent (though Katie rose to the challenge at the Australian Open against the talented Wickmayer, playing in her first Grand Slam quali). Mel plays Youlia Fedossova next, who blows hot and cold. She beat Anne in the US Open qualies 2 years ago.

Salmon your being very harsh on the girls i dont understand why, one musn't get to personal i think its would be a disgrace if anyones funding gets scrapped because they have put on some extra baggage, imagine the fuss you would kick up if it was Dan Evans. i expect that you would blame the LTA for messing up his scheduling and sending him to a country that has a high fat diet.

Also i must say it is a bit strange that although she is saving money and resources by not using the NTC the LTA have cut her funding?

I like Mel South. she is younger and fresher and I think she will break in 100 soon.

Telling players to shape up or get lost is nothing new. That's just what happened with Casey Dellacqua and look where she is now!

Cool! I wasn't aware of that.

I know it's being rude and I hope not to upset anyone here or people reading these boards. cry.gif But sometimes carrots-and-sticks is all that'll work and it's better that the LTA be downright unfair to people instead of seeing someone not achieve what they're capable of.

I don't care even if Naomi reaches the top 100 with this physique, 'cause then I'll know that she's capable of more.
