Great news if Alex has won the match - just need either Rosol to beat Malisse, or Malisse to retire injured again to open up the draw for Boggo.
He's finding some good form at the moment, right in time for US Open qualies, where he could well qualify if he doesn't get tight as he always seems to do.
Go Boggo Thanks for letting us know Count, even though posting it means those without knowledge of the secret handshake can read about it. I see you are still keeping the actual score under wraps which I'm glad to see.

Oh what a day for the Bogster! Your wish came true, Rosol won in three ...
L16: Alex Bogdanovic WR 177 beat (1) Andreas Beck (GER) WR 121 by 5 & 5
QF: Alex Bogdanovic WR 177 v Lukas Rosol (CZE) WR 176
Rosol qualified for the Stuttgart Outdoor (on clay) last month then beat Fischer and took a set off Dammit Gasquet. He also won the Kosice Challenger a month earlier, also on clay.
Rosol hasn't faced a Brit in singles since he beat Josh Goodall 6-7(5) 6-4 7-6(8) in the Final of the Future in Czech Republic in Dec 2006. In March 2005, he even managed to lose 3 & 4 to Jamie Murray ...

Wow, well done Boggo. What a chance to reach the semis too. Looks like he's hitting a rich vein of form at the right time.

Yes, I was thinking that. Three weeks with no ranking points. However, there's one obvious solution - force his way into the team, win a rubber and leave to the sound of Boggo's Coming Home ringing in his ears. That should do enough good to his confidence to make up for the missed ranking points

Well, Boggo plays well only when you write him off. Maybe he'll play DC, lose from being 2 sets and 2 breaks up and face the flak - perfect preparation for the IH season.
I'm impressed with how much his outdoor hard game has improved in the last two years.
hopefully he can cut it down to 2 weeks with no rankings points. if he can manage (is allowed?) to play Orleans & Grenbole. I think he should be able to play Grenoble (unless the DC is delayed till monday - which could be quite likley considering the very erratic summer we are having) consiedering last time he managed to play belrgade after argentina, this is only a short hop in compariosn.
i also think its good for him if he can go in playing well, perhaps a few wins in orleans would serve him better than aweek at the NTC training and thinking about the up coming DC.
doe any one here sing? didnt one of our member here have a kaorke company, surely we could record a version of Boggo's coming home? unfortuanly i cant sing to save my life, i love signing but it strangled kitty like.
and finally i am wearing my bronx challenger tshirt today in support fo alex :)

i'll agree arka, his outdoor hard game seems to have come on leaps and bounds. in the past i think he only really had a SF in denver and the USOQ as flash in the pan decent reuslts, but now he is much more consistent there.
perhaps the gym work is starting to pay off, i know BG has worked him extremely hard, i hope that when BG and alex split alex doesnt drop back a bit on thsi front.
also i wonde rif alex will be fired up by all the critiscim from his wimby loss? perhaos he can find a wayto turn that to hsi advantge for the DC.

Great to see Boggo win in two tight sets, and ever since Wimbledon he's become a very good tight match player, with the win Udomchoke final in Granby, the Kendrick win, and now this one against Beck.
Rosol winning is great news as well, as he'd hadn't won a match outside of the clay all season until this week, and he's very much a clay court specialist, so after beating Beck it would be a bit of a disappointment if he were to lose to him.
to get to 130, he'd need to earn about 130 more ranking pts, on top of the points he is defending till the end of the year, which is about 50 (spread over 4 events).
of course he is also now at the stage where he has to beat his 18th bests each time, so for instance this week so far is a net gain of 9pts, which slows his rise slighty, although of course he has those above 4 events to come off too so those lower scores could came back into play occasionally.
if he can keep playing at his current level and stay fit, i'd say that would be a good, realisitic goal, and a decent place to be for the new year. of course the higher the better, but i'd like to see good steady (and healthy) progress for him and a steady momentum to hlpe push towards the top 100.
