Now now friends lets not get too heated....for whats its worth I dont think Evo is a legend...more like a 'real prospect' buts that two words...is that allowed ?
I think words like 'legend' get watered down nowadays and the real meaning gets lost IMO.

agreed, Arka made a light hearted comment, im sure Arka doesn't mean legend as in Borg, Becker etc etc. Its common nowadays to call people legends, especially if your young and from london like i am.
Dan Smethurst was also banned for 2 months, it hasn't had the same effect as Mr Evans though. They have different talent of course but the point I am making is it was not the punishmenst that were important, but the reactions to it. Dan Evans has been top drawer.
Without the punishment there wouldn't have been a reaction!
Who said that they have maximised their potential? I said that I'd be happy if they did.
To you maybe only someone who is top 100 deserves recognition but not to me. This is hardly some minority sport where you're one of 100 people competing in this world but people will declare you a national hero when you win a medal. (People will bandwagon anything, so it happens.)
Anyone who is top 1000 in tennis is bloody good and deserves proper press coverage.
Yes, I didn't think that people would mind my innocuous comment that paid respect to Evo's fighting spirit.
Back to tennis (at least for the time being) -
The problem is that when you're 18, you normally don't travel around the world alone. So unless he teams up with older Brits (which I don't see happening), he'll have to have some friend/relation and that doubles the costs.
But he may try out Alphen Aan Den Rijn qualies if he wants. Even if he doesn't qualify, he'll probably get to play a top 400 player, which will be good.
He can take SE into a Futures next week! Although I don't think he should...

Oh, yes, you saw him drinking, didn't you?
Please don't accuse people of things that you don't have confirmation on. That's a seriously harsh tag, given that there has been absolutely no confirmation from the LTA on what happened.
And you can't possibly believe the papers where barring offerings from a few quality reporters, you normally get whatever people want to hear. And the topics in demand right now are "the LTA spoils everyone with too much money so down with Draper", "Nadal is GOAT and Fed is finished", "Robson will save British women's tennis" and the all time favourite "These Serbians are good".
Anything else and people won't care, so don't even think of finding much about Evo's triumph in Wrexham, Boggo winning in Granby etc. which are much more important.

Evo has now equalled Jamie B's top Brit wiining streak this year with 13 wins - even though Jamie's were all in Futures main draws (or DC), that's pretty impressive for someone who was ranked outside the top 1100 shortly before the streak started - Dan will be ranked in the top 700 on Monday week, ahead of Kasiri.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Still doesn't make him "a legend"...!
No-one is saying he is...in the truest sense of the word. But what a run for an 18 yr old lad..showing real guts and determination.
Lets just celebrate his run and hope he breaks Bakers runs with back-2-back titles.
Its great to have an young English guy winning so many matches. He deserves some time away from the court to recharge his batteries and keep fresh before getting back to work. Does anybody klnow what his schedule for the next few months is? Does anybody know him? It would be nice to know his thoughts on the last few weeks, I'm sure he'd have time to talk to any of us if we introduced ourselves as members of this illustrious board.
Anyway, let us hope he get the right result today.
