Tim Hewitt is a big guy with a big serve. He didnt like the green clay in Edinburgh this year and have no idea why he missed the summer grass court season ?
I like him and has a big weapon to get a much higher ranking.
I thought Hewitt beating Oger 3 & 2 was an extension of the joke for a moment - stunning score for a player I thought had virtually given up earlier this year!
Not that the Count's Boggo beating Beck 4 & 4 was that far off the real score of 5 & 5 either!

Dan Evans is on fire! I think he'll take the title again this week as long as he's not tired.
His dismal performance against Malisse is even more baffling considering how well he played less than a week later in Notts qualifying against Garcia-Lopez. He was brilliant.

I wasn't remotely worried about Evski losing to Malisse. When you have so little experience, your performances on the bigger stage depend on how you feel that day.
21st May 2005 - Andy Murray picked up just 5 games against Marcel Granollers-Pujol, who was ranked 370 at that time. Two weeks later, he won two rounds at one of the biggest Tour events in the world.
Surely Andy didn't improve in that period? It's all luck...
And bad days will be there when you're older, too. Andy got one game against Djokovic last year, Nadal got one game against Youzhny this year, Gaudio was double bagelled by Fed at the Masters Cup in 2005 etc. etc.
A thrashing is nowhere near as embarrassing as it's made out to be, in my opinion. Most top 50 players are capable of winning 61 61 or better (barring Karlovic, of course) against each other.
It's extremely dumb of the media (or anyone else) to base an opinion on a single match. If you were released from prison after a decade and had seen Nadal vs. Youzhny at Chennai in your first day out, you would say that Nadal would be lucky to get into the top 200.
What an idiot Malisse was to make those comments. He should know all this because he's a professional player.
Shamasdin is underranked as he's a former college player. But Evans should beat him easily if he plays like he has been doing.
Rudi Coco! won against Burquier. Rudi Coco! should beat Danilovic, the other semifinalist from his half.
If Evski wins the title here, he'll have won two in a row after qualifying. I don't think there have been too many people in this world who have qualified and won titles in consecutive weeks (because of SEs).
Regardless of what happens next he's had a fantastic few weeks. hopefully he can race on up to challengers soon (maybe not just yet) and make this a sustained rise. Who knows what it was over the summer that affected this transformation but it's great to see him starting to fulfil his potential.

Well done to Evans on reaching the semi finals, and he's on fire as of late, and another chance of a title here, and back-to-back titles would certainly give him a lot of confidence and a few ranking points as well.
He's got to be looking at 500 by the end of the year as his target now, which should be achievable at this rate.
And that doubles scores looks suspicially like a 'we'll start the match so we get the prize-money from the event but I've got another event to play in abroad next week so I better tank here to make it in time for the qualifying cut' retirement...

Brewer & Flan went on to beat Evo & Josh Milton (4) in the top-half SF 7-6(6) 6-4 & wait to see whether Bidmeade & Cambell or Danilovic & Shamasdin (2) triumph in the bottom half!
