Evans going from strength to strength it seems. Just keeps performing better and better. Pretty decent to hammer Feaver so convincingly.

Looks like Nott did pretty well to take a set of Lejnieks and Pritchard to take one of Coco too. No really disappointing results today, a very decent day overall I think!

I hope that Bam Bam is all right. This is his fourth retirement in the last two months, which doesn't look great! Maybe he needs some time off the game so that he is back to full fitness?

Well, it was obviously bad enough to cause him & Ed Corrie (3) to hand David Bidmeade & Luke Campbell (AUS/GBR) a walkover in the doubles! cry

*cough*  Elsewhere in the doubles:

Maniel Bains & Marcus Daniell (GBR/NZL) beat Alastair Filmer & James Langford 5 & 2

Dan Evans & Josh Milton (4) beat Tim Hewitt & Ben Pritchard (GBR/GBR) 2 & 2

Grégory Chambaz & Jamie Feaver *(SUI/GBR) lost to Mark Fynn & Tim Mittiga (ZIM/AUS) 3-6 6-7(4) cry

Cambell/Bidmeade beat Kyle Brassington & Chris Nott 2-6 7-6(2) [10-7], hence the w/o for C & B to the SFs!

Fitzy & Alexei Grigorov (RUS) lost to James Cluskey & Alexander Farron-Mahon (IRL/IRL) 6-3 3-6 [7-10] cry

Bains watched Flanagan retire vs Evans three days ago - must be galling to see him come down here and perform like that!

Fitzy - Milton - Evo clap.gifclap.gif : clap:

8 Brits in round 2 is a pretty good week, and well done to all the Brits who got their wins.

Hewitt looks in some form judging by his result today and he could push Oger if he plays well, and Milton gets another first round win as well, and had a great chance of reaching the Quarter Finals.

Hopefully we can get someone through the second quarter and take out Lejnieks, but if Flanagan is fit and interested he can do it, and so could Kinsella if he serves well or Evans if he still has something left in the tank, and good to see them backing up their results still.

I'm saying Milton, Flanagan, Evans, Arlidge and Illingworth for the Quarter Finals this week (sorry Hewitt and Fitzy, but good luck anyway and I think you can push Coco the clown to a good match)

It's probably worth mentioning that Dan has now compiled the first double figure winning streak by a Brit since Jamie Baker in Texas earlier this year, has won 15 of his last 16 matches and has a 17-2 record since getting banned by the LTA! smile.gif

wow.

Shall we start a petition to get more players banned by the LTA? Seems to work wonders!

I'm sure no one is keeping it a secret Gary. Once someone knows, they will post. No news as yet. Getting early results from the LTA is like getting blood from a stone. You either have to phone up the tennis centre and ask or wait for the results to be posted on the BBC site or drawsheet.

I'd be surprised if there was much play today, as the weather forecast has rain all day for Cumberland today and tomorrow.
