Dan Smethurst was also banned for 2 months, it hasn't had the same effect as Mr Evans though. They have different talent of course but the point I am making is it was not the punishmenst that were important, but the reactions to it. Dan Evans has been top drawer.

Why was SMethurst allowed to plays the nationals and Evo not then, thats slightly confusing!

Evans could have played the nationals if he wanted to, he wasn't banned from them he just wasn't forced to play.

that explains a lot, i wonder if Smetty is regretting playing the nationals after looking at Evo's echievement!

I'm sure no one is keeping it a secret Gary. Once someone knows, they will post. No news as yet. Getting early results from the LTA is like getting blood from a stone. You either have to phone up the tennis centre and ask or wait for the results to be posted on the BBC site or drawsheet.

The BBC site ???? Arent they usually 3 days behind with any news. I cant see any links to anything on the site and i have had a good look? Can please someone help me as i must be going blind??

It's a secret, my friend, a highly guarded secret.

The legend goes like this -

In the good old days of Henman and Rusedski, BBC had a page where you could get results from tennis tournaments held in Britain. However, someone who was in charge of updating the tennis section during Wimbly 2007 replaced the link with the Wimbly results link and forgot to change it back after Wimbly.

Funnily enough, the page still exists but no one in the BBC team has realised that it's not linked, even after 14 months!!

Bookmark it and use it well.

It's hilarious. How can you possibly not realise that something isn't in place for 14 months? confused.gif Or is it linked somewhere else but we don't know?

Another place where you can get results -

http://www.sportinglife.com/tennis/results/

Normally you get the same results in both places as far as international men's and women's tennis is concerned. Although the BBC covers British Tour and Junior events at times, too.

I love the BBC for it, seriously. We insult them every now and then (and all for valid reasons), but hardly any country has this sort of service from a non official site.

Evans def. Danilovic - 3-6, 7-6(7), 6-2

Well done to Dan on winning back to back titles, and hope he takes a week or so's rest to recover from this, and then continues his winning form when he returns.

He probably has to save a match point in that TB as well, which makes the win even better!

What a fightback - does this guy never get tired?! smile That's 14 wins in a row, one of the longest winning streaks by a Brit ever and he'll be up into the 620s on Monday week - a rise of over FIVE HUNDRED places in 3 weeks!! biggrin

Whatever the rights and wrongs of what he did at Wimby, you have to admire how he's reacted to his wake up call.
