i believe its some kinda tax dodge situation,he has to spend x amount of time a year abroad in middle east and prove an income there to dodge the tax in Uk.??
A possible answer there. The possiblities of him having a job over in that area, or something whether it would be a family or some other commitments, could be another reason.
Maybe the LTA should send everyone to Iran ... Howe has only gone and beaten Krkoska to make this, at the age of 36, the first tournament he has ever got more than one ranking point from. Hope for all of us who are already ancient in tennis terms.
Note that he did it from a set down and by winning a 2nd set t/b (in which he must surely have been match points down) 10-8. He now plays Vejmelka, who double bagelled Edward Seator a couple of years ago - good luck with that one Gregory!
QF: Gregory Howe WR 1794 v (1) Adam Vejmelka (CZE) WR 318 QF: (7) Myles Blake WR 857 v (4) Richard Ruckelshausen (AUT) WR 501

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
It'll be tough against Vejmelka though - Vejjy's going for his 6th Iranian Futures title (13th overall).
Bogdan 'Victor' Leonte's in the QFs here too. (as well as Botswana F1 champ, Ruckelshausen). Bit of an African Futures Fest going on in Iran! (The week of Senegal F2 too - where Rudy Coco made the QFs.)
Well done to Myles who looks to have found a bit of form at last, but what a result for Howe!!!
Maybe he's finally becoming the real deal at 36, and this will keep him going for a while now as his ranking will get him into to quite a few events!
Vejmelka seems to spend his entire time playing in these weak futures events, and never seems to play strong events, so he's potentially overranked... but I think he'll win this match
To be honest i was waiting for Myles to do a Rushby and disappear but to be fair he's stuck it out and this week he's done well, we all know about RUCKELSHAUSEN the Seator Destroyer
