(In the 12's singles the boy that beat Marcus went on to win the title without dropping a set...He also got to the semi's of the consolation 12s singles)
Hey....sorry for being so tardy....afterwards we had a couple of friends over and then I hit the hay early. I really don't mind the thunder stealing....that was said tongue in cheek.
Great weekend. Sunday's final was a really tense....Marcus was broken to start the match and then Olin held to love....I don't know why, but Marcus is always so nervous and tense when he plays Olin, maybe it is because they are nearly the same age and Marcus feels that he should beat him. Anyway, it was tense until Marcus held a 5-1 lead in the second set. Olin has the much bigger game. His groud strokes are huge, but Marcus is more consistent. I don't think Marcus played as well as he did in his semi, but still, great win.
Marcus then played a consolation match in the 12s and went down 6-2, 6-1. I think he was just shot for the weekend. He had played this kid twice before and it was closer, but still, great weekend.
The reason they have so many matches is because I signed him up for three events at his request. I love him to be on court, but I might start drawing the line at two events as he ended up really tired.
The other neat thing is that Marcus won two of the four titles won by kids from Bozeman.....huge bragging rights, although I never brag of course....
Thanks for the well wishes....I always wait until the tourney is over and let him read your posts.
Oh and another reason this is late is coz I taped Andy's match....I knew if I came here I'd find out the result....lol....what a great weekend! I think Andy is going to win the gold....I just feel it.
Drew, that kid is really good....he is 11, but a small kid and yet has a great game. I saw him play another tourney at Christmas and he had a melt down on the court. Marcus had four game points against him and I really wish he had taken a game, but I think he only gave up five or six games in the 12s.
Really well done young Marcus....dont think you can stay up late tonight just because you are a champion now !!! you will have to get up at 4am to start training for the Nationals
Well done Marcus on several fantastic victories! Lets hope that the parallels with Murray continue - Just don't forget your Fathers allegiance to British tennis!
A few pictures of Marcus with his trophies, tournament director and doubles partner....both trophies look alike....that is the shape of the State of Montana....just in case you didn't know.
