RE: Week 32 - Binghamton Challenger [50K] - 2008.

Don't think Bloomers is going to get better luck for the whole season than that!

Not only does someone pull out of the main draw to allow him into it, someone pulls out to let Francis in, and then he goes and draws Francis!

Good chance of a win as well, as Francis has done not a lot all season to suggest he should beat Bloomers, and a good chance for 5 points.

And then it also gives Skupski a nice path into the final qualifying round, and a decent chance of him qualifying here as he should put up a good fight against both his potential opponents.

Jamie Baker gets Lacko, which isn't a great draw and it would be a big win for him if he could get it, given his current form (then again, Lacko hasn't won a match since April, and has only played once in the last 2 months, so guessing he's coming back from injury)

Qualifiers get Capdeville, Oudsema, Rosol and Evans... Oudsema is probably the best draw, so hope Skupski can qualify and get that draw

Yes, I was about to check whether I was right about Francis being a good draw, so thatks for doing the research. Lacko didn't look so good until you did the research on him too. Let's hope it'll be a Big Week in Bing! smile.gif

Yeah, he's had a couple of futures semi's and a challenger QF, so nothing spectacular there at all... think he reached a futures final at the start of the year as well.

I checked Lacko as I couldn't remember seeing his name in any draws for a while, so it could be a promising draw if he still struggling, and drawing someone who hasn't won a match for 3 1/2 months can never be bad.

What luck for Ken!

Francis is most beatable and although Lacko is a better player, he was playing on clay upto this week, so Jamie has an advantage over him in that sense.

Berankis got yet another wild card. Lucky boy, lucky boy... whoever manages him has great contacts. Anyway, he'll be top 100 very soon, so I can understand why tourneys want to give him wild cards.

Glad the Bloomers/Skupski match failed to materialise, and that as a result Bloomers is in the main draw. Hopefully Skupski can join him and JamieB.

Ken plays Ruiz-Rozales, who beat Millot 6-3 7-5 on ct 7 at 10.00 (15.00 BST)

Ruiz-Rozales ranked at pb of 695 has recently had some good results, reaching QF of Aptos and Granby challengers. He beat Ken 2 and 2 in Mexico challenger quali round in April so it doesnt look easy but should be possible for Ken.

Yes, yet another WC for Berankis, I wonder how he does it? This is his 7th this year and his 5th US challenger WC - I bet he has applied for US citizenship!

Pretty sure than Berankis is managed by IMG (or one of the companies like that) so they get the WC's for him... but because he was junior world number 1, that sort of entitles him to get WC's as every junior number 1 seems to get a lot of them.

Which is why I think Cox/Evans etc should have done better at junior level as although it means nothing in the long run, a top 5 spot in rankings or a junior slam gets you attention from tournament directors and you get WC's to challengers/ATP events from it.

Ruiz-Rosales is definately a winnable match, as contary to MJD's post, he only reached the 2nd round in Atpos, and doesn't appear to have been in the Granby main draw, so not quite sure where he's got his statistics on him from!

He's only beaten 2 top 500 players all year (and 1 was a retirement), so doesn't look that great a player, although he did beat Ken in Mexico... think Ken can definately win this

Yes, Berankis is managed by IMG.

But what you say isn't necessarily true as people like Gulbis and Korolev skipped Juniors but got a few wild cards outside their country. All that you need is good back up...

Bloomers not playing doubles, Ken plays with Brendan Evans as the 3rd seeds. First round they play Oudsema / Witten.

Only the Baker boy plays tommorow.

L32: Jamie Baker WR 302 lost to (5) Lukas Lacko (SVK) WR 184 by 4 & 5 cry
L32: Richard Bloomfield WR 287 v Alberto Francis (USA) WR 300 - Tuesday

Close, but not quite for Jamie - and a real pity given that the other seed in Jamie's quarter retired against a WC!

Helgeson is a good player, although I doubt that he would beat Kudryavtsev without a retirement!

I just don't understand why Jamie doesn't play doubles. confused.gif It's obvious that he needs more time on court.
