RE: Week 32 - Great Britain F12 (Wrexham 10K) - 2008.

alright people, thought i would send you a little message now im home.
no internet as laptop broken.
Playing some good ball at the moment, and bit of a killer of a draw this week, but even still thought i could win, given how i was playing.
Bit today was tough, the guy played out of his arse, hardly missed a ball and served really well.

Guess thats what confidence does for you. I was hoping for another nice draw to pick up another few points, or atleast not gt the number one seed!

Playing cumberland next week, i will ask for a wildcard. though there maybe other people more deserving, though to be honest, they way they have been handed out recently, i deserve one!!!

Was a downer of a journey home, after a good match to make a mark, and coming off a score line like that, which didnt reflect the match.

Back home to earn some more money, as the rain hit my bank balance hard with extra nights in acc. and car needing to be fixed!

Tennis players life ehy! glorious

I wouldn't worry too much about it bud, these days come around every so often and serve to test your resolve. Fingers crossed that that's the last awful draw for a little while and that you get that WC next week.

Early R2 results

Daniel Danilovic (Mne) bt Jamie Feaver (Gbr) 6-3 3-6 6-2

Ian Flanagan (Gbr) bt Daniel Cox (Gbr) 6-2 6-4

Neil Bamford (Gbr) bt Tim Hewitt (Gbr) 6-4 7-5

Well predicted JL - but I wish Flan would go back on tour and make use of these points if he's going to insist on keeping taking them off players who could really do with them!

Some of the results here this week (e.g. Feaver and the Ward losing) maybe suggest that the contraty to popular belief, GB Futures are actually pretty strong compared to some of the others. I mean, I know Ward's reputation was built on just one tournament, but he didn't get a lucky draw there and fluke a win against one good player, he beat at least three players he'd have been expected to lose to and he's been doing well in qualifying leading up to that week.

Fitzy - shame you had to not only draw the top seed, but draw him when he's in such good form as well... hope you get a WC next week and can score another ranking point

Good wins for Bamford and Flanagan today, although Cox losing to Flanagan is a disappointing score, especially after he beat him easily in the WC play-off and this is Cox's best surface - and with the draw opened up wonderfully for him, he can an easy route to a futures final....

Coxy. cry.gifcry.gif Once or twice in a year, Flan plays like a top 200 player - shame Dan had to run into him here. His ranking will go up to around 770 now, which looks quite good.

Obviously it's Flan's life and he may do whatever he wants, but I wish he would start playing regularly again as he's capable of much more.

good wins there - maybe if he gets to the semis (Flan) he may go back on tour more often. or even wait till next year.

Mathieu Rodrigues (Fra) bt Ashley Watling (Gbr) 6-2 6-4
Clement Reix (Fra) bt Alexei Grigorov (Rus) 6-2 2-6 6-3
Daniel Evans (Gbr) bt Joshua Milton (Gbr) 6-3 6-3
Marcus Daniell (Nzl) bt Jonathan Kinsella (Gbr) 6-3 6-3,

Well done to Evans on the win, and another QF for him, but it's a shame Watling and Kinsella couldn't get the wins as well.

QF's will be:

Rodrigues vs. Reix
Danivolic vs. Evans
Flanagan vs. Arlidge/Illingworth
Daniell vs. Bamford

Hopefully Evans and Bamford can get us 3 QFinalist's here, and I still think we're looking at a Rodrigues/Bamford final

@ Fitzy - your form showed in your qualies rounds - great scores! All the best for Cumberland - no bother if you have to qualify again - you'll do it!

@ Richo - You did seem good mates! Knightsy was clinical - be nice for you to draw someone else next time. I thought your match was one of the bestter quality matches on show all day Sunday. I think you could both have won with different draws. Knightsy seems really compact and mobile whereas you have some proper shot-making ability, just need a bit more consistency! Chin up fella!

@ Steven - I wish my futures predictions could match up in the pickems form! Just had a horrible feeling Flan would win, but totally agree with the sentiment that he's basically stealing points from the younger lads. Having said that, the point is that you have to win to get the points and sadly Coxy didn't.

Evo continuing to shine atm, and an encouraging secont set from Watling! He now has 2 ATP points clap.gif

A non-british finalist from the bottom half would be a disaster quite frankly.

Impressed with Bains taking a set from Bamford, and Alastair BArnes taking a set of the French seed is good going too!

I worry that Flan will have a hot week and take Coxy out.

Some good doubles results there as well.

Fleming and Corrie have to be favourites to win in my book.

Nice to see Chauders and El Menshawy register a win but they need another win to score a point right?

Yeah, Johnny, points start at the semis stage in Futures these days - a shame, I think, as it inevitably discourages players from taking part.

Matt Illingworth beat Burnham Arlidge 4 & 3 in the o/s match. Hope he beat Flan tomorrow too, unless Flan is intending to start playing properly again.
