I presume he is taking a break after a few months were he has been out of sorts. Hopefully this isn't due to any personal reasons such as family problems/personal health and he'll be back on the circuit, trying to crack the top 500, as soon as possible. However the turn in form did seem rather strange so I wouldn't totally rule out any such reasons.. however this is based on pure speculation.
I've noticed that Miles almost never plays doubles. Between October 2005 and now, he has played dubs just once! And that was in his third Futures after his comeback, so it was only because of extra court time.
Not that it matters as singles is his priority, but that must be incredibly rare for any tennis player in the world.
I think it's being waaaaay too harsh on him. He has done well against too many top 500 players to be considered just a top 700 prospect. Plus he has never played a full year without a major gap, so we probably haven't seen all that he has to offer.
Let's see, I guess. Hopefully he'll return and get back to the top 500 soon.
im really not sure about him last year he was fairly consistent making futures quaters all the time but really not much else, i think is top 300 at best and that goin out on a limb.
Reports suggested he injured his knee at Wimbledon qualifying and he hasn't been since since. Obviously not a good sign as it was his knee that put him out before.
Thanks, Wolf. Yes, worrying. It's a hard enough business when you're fit but it must get increasingly difficult to justify continuing when you've had major injuries at a young age.
