Congratulations to Hertfordshire Men and Ladies - double champions.
There are a number of undefeated players in the week - although not all have made it into the 15-15 club, as some matches either weren't played or weren't completed (or weren't achievable due to withdrawal of a team). A big shout out to Emily Arbuthnott though, for achieving the 15 for the third time.
(For info about the 15-15 club read this PDF and for the roll of honour (not yet including this week) see this pdf

Many thanks for that liink - a lot of old names on there
Hertfordshires double success in both womens and mens Group 1 events at Eastbourne was the 20th time in the tournaments illustrious history that the same county had emerged victorious in the elite division.
Meanwhile, Yorkshire women and Kent women were relegated from Group 1 and will be replaced by Group 2 winners, Leicestershire, and runners-up, Nottinghamshire, in the 2023 LTA County Cup.
In the mens section, Cambridgeshire and Essex were relegated from Group 1, with Surrey and Suffolk taking their places after finishing first and second respectively in Group 2.
Not sure why this is in the Men's section, as it should really be in the General section, as it is both Men's and Women's.
County Week started today. There is a 21 page brochure onthe LTA website which gives a lot of information, including group tables, teams and players etc. It can be downloaded here
Surrey men just pipped Herts to the title on rubbers won, although Herts did win their head-to head 7-2. Herts women are champions for the fourth consecutive year.
No 15/15's this year in the top groups, but lower down this feat was achieved by Halle Pringle/Francesca Simpson (Durham and Cleveland), Oliver Haig/Alfie King (Cheshire) and Alexander Maggs/Alexander Parker (Hereford and Worcester) plus Aaron Osmond (Gloucestershire).
Commiserations to a number that just missed out, including Madeleine Brooks and Amy Partridge of Norfolk in Group 2 who missed out by losing their final match 10-8 in a MTB, finishing with a 14-1 record.
Summer County Cup Monday 21st - Friday 25th July 2025
Lets hope the weather is kind!!!
*Event Details The forty-four competing counties are organised in six groups of six counties per group and two groups of eight counties on a league basis. Group 1 is the premier group with the mens and ladies teams playing at Devonshire Park, Eastbourne with the top counties in this group winning the Championships. The other groups play at 11 grass court venues throughout the country and the leading two counties in both mens & ladies groups 2 to 7 inclusive being promoted to the group above them. The bottom two teams are relegated to the group below except, of course, those in Group 7. Each county team consists of three doubles pairs. Over the five days of the Event, each county plays every other*

Why is it that the home team for a given venue isnt actually playing there. I know the groups are pre determined by promotion and relegation. But they could at least make it a home tie for one of the counties in each case. I havent checked closely, so forgive me if its the exception, but Yorkshire are nowhere near Ilkley. Why wouldnt Ilkley host their group? They know a year advance which group each county will be in!

I don't think the principle of home/host teams really applies to County Week. For most players, many who have to take time off work to compete for their counties, one of the attractions is to go to away with your team.
And the clubs that are large enough to host groups don't really change year on year. And Eastbourne always hosts both Group 1s, and this year Roehampton hosting both Group 2s.
Talking of Group 2, today Josh Parris and Oli Golding of Middesex beat Charles Broom and Ryan Storrie of Herts, a reminder of how high the quality some of the County Cup tennis can be.

Group 2 looks tough!! Finn Bass and James Wilkinson of Herts beat Josh Paris and Oli Golding, Middlesex but lost to Dom Inglot and Jordan Angus, Middlesex.
