I just called them, both Dans lost unfortunately - couldn't be bothered to ask for the scores after that, though apologies, I should have. A small consolation is that Dan Evans should have a fair chance of getting to Wrexham in time to sign in for qualifying now, I'm just wondering why he didn't enter it in the first place - same as here.

Evans did enter for Wrexham... he just hasn't made the cut yet.
Shame to see them both lose, but not overly unexpected given the rankings of their opponents.
Still, a semi final is a decent result, and if they can follow it up with a couple of wins next week, it will have a good couple of weeks
It's Bamford, Feaver, Cox, Illingworth, Brewer, Ward, Hewitt and Milton who have DE at the moment, but there's only 17 players on the list, so if the SE are cleared and the next 3 get in, that would mean Bains, Flanagan and Kinsella would make it.
That would leave Evans as 3rd alternate (behind Rice and Smethurst) and so would have to qualify.
afternoon folks - i really dont want to ask loads of stupid newbie questions so is there a link to some of your abbreviations?
DE/DA basically mean the same thing - direct acceptance or direct entry - so the players with a DE have made the cut and will be in the main draw of the event.
SE is a special exempt, which a player can take if they are still playing in a singles tournament of the previous week when the qualifying sign-in for a tournament of the same or less value, in the same geographical area, and when they wouldn't have made the initial cut ends.
So for anyone to be eligible for a SE for Wrexham, they would have to be ranked below 1100 (or whatever the cut line ends up being), and still playing singles in a tournament in week 30 somewhere in Europe

Thanks - I did know about the DAs from having complied the top 25 table and I remembered Bains, Flan and Kinsella beng at the top of the Alt list but not Dan being there, and just assumed Dan must be ranked above Flan by now.

As the semi-final of the latest clay court Future in Transylvania went into its 9th day, Radek Stepanek's younger brother wondered if he could keep the final rally going for another 10000 shots so that he could claim one of the SE places in Wrexham.
(sorry FD, not nearly as bad a mistake as mine but it just made me imagine the above for some reason!)

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
Fitzy must have been watching the Dans lose their semis, feeling rather guilty about his internal satisfaction at the bonus accruing to himself - the Dans' conquerors now have to meet each other in the final (Fitzy thinking "Wouldn't three tie-break sets be great"), before joining up to play Andrew and his Russian partner. By the time they finish, les francais will have played a minimum of six sets today - possibly, as many as nine!!
Shame that Fitzy lost the doubles final, but well done to him to making one and I think it's his first doubles points, so it's good to have another Brit on the ranking boards.
As per the mistake... it's someone else's fault for starting up a discussion about Wrexham in the Ikley thread anyway, leading me to go back a week from this event rather than next week's

I now see that the last part applies to ATP tournaments only and not ITF ones. Michael Koning was ranked sufficiently high to enter GB F10 (he was the top seed, actually) but got the SE after winning GB F9.
