RE: Week 31 - Great Britain F11 (Ilkley 10K) - 2008.

Coupland and Evo are ours, too, James! smile.gif This is why you got to love Evans - he can pull out these great performances when things aren't going well. The path to the semis is clear now and he should get there unless he plays badly.

Very well done to Fitzy. Heavey is a good player and isn't ranked just because he goes to college.

Congrats to Pritchard on his first point. smile.gif Matt (XCW4EVA) will love it!

Burnham Arlidge to cause the upset of round 2 is my pick.

If I remember correctly, Pritchard beat Cox at last year's Wimbly qualies plays off. Cox would like revenge, where as Pritchard would love to extend his run.

I think Evo will beat Milton although they've played against and alongside each other so many times that it's not possible to know what will happen! Would love to see Fitzy reach the quarters here but he'll have to play even better to beat an experienced fast surface player like Bam Bam.

Illingworth and Arlidge should win but Ricey and Coups will need to step up a lot.

Well done Fitzy smile.gif ... and Evo of course, that was a really excellent win.

All these results and points have gone on the top 25 table - I might as well mention that here, because none of the GB men in other tournaments were playing singles today, unless you count the double disaster in Senegal.

Terrible day for Courtcrazy's boys though cry - perhpas he ought to start posting here again, they did better when he was doing that!

The top seed only won 4 & 4 against a player outside the top 1600, so unless that just means he was playing well within himself, maybe he's a grass court muppet who didn't realise what surface this was being played on and Ricey's got a chance. wink

Pretty good day on the whole with a lot of Brits getting through to the second round, and great chances for quite a few QFinalists.

Evans win is the pick of the results, and looks like he's reacted well to his punishment, and beating a player like that so easily is a great sign, and he's just got to stop wasting his talent.

Well done to Fitzy and Coups on getting another point as well, and to Pritchard for getting a first point.

We have at least 3 through today, but I'd think there's a chance that Illingworth, Arlidge and Rice could all join Bamford, Cox and Evans in the QF's

I just had a quick look at the results from this tournament last year, since given how good the timing is for it to be a relatively weak tournament, I was surprised that there weren't more Brits who are going to be dropping points from it next week.

The differences are:

- we had 'just' 16 in the main draw last year cf. 21 this time
- we got 6 into R2 cf. 10 this time
- we got 2 into the QFs (Rushby, our only seed last year, and Corrie), c.f. 3 already guaranteed this time
- we didn't get anyone into SFs (which were an all-AUS/NZ affair) c.f. 1 already guaranteed this time

So, we shoul see more upward moves in the rankings than downwards moves at the end of next week. smile.gif

Evo plays Kelly, the Aussie who's beaten Brewer and Arlidge.

So much for hopes of Ricey or Burnham causing an upset.

Good win for Evans and he's got a good chance in the QF's, although Kelly seems to have made a habit of beating Brits recently, and I thought the Aussie-Brit Arlidge would have beaten him.

Bit of a thrashing for Rice though, which is a little disappointing and not the kind of result you want to see on a grass court from him.
