Possibly Auckland couldn't find a partner, although he's good enough to have someone wanting to play with him.
More likely that it effectively gives him $720, which is probably more than enough to cover the expenses for the week, so he's entering the doubles because he can to get the money, and if he does win then it's even better, but if not it doesn't really matter (and he won't over do the effort if he's still struggling with an injury)
Just to clarify that comment, Canadians say Vancouverites don't tan, they rust & if you can't see the mountains (i.e. the Rockies), it's raining. If you can, it's about to start raining...

The same is said in Liverpool, too, though it's the mountains of North Wales which are the target view ... and, no doubt, in another few hundred cities round the world.

Especially after today [well yesterday now..], the clouds were either shedding their load or retreating and planning their next attack! Very strange day.
they lost the dubs 4 & 3. i think it was played indoors.
i am not sure it was wise for aucks to team with alex, what with him just back from injury and wanted to focus on the singles, i am not sure how his desire would be for this.
i think all the mens singles were delayed, if the rain continues i guess they will go indoors

Agree with you there about Boggo not being a good choice. One reason could be that Aucks was just comig/had not come from the WTT finals and played doubles on a very short notice, so Boggo was the only one he could persuade?
L16: Alex Bogdanovic WR 183 v (5) Robert Kendrick (USA) WR 118
Former top 80 player Kendrick has lost to Muzza all three times he played him, inclkuding a double bagel at Newport in 2006, but he has a 4-0 record against other Brits - Amadeus took 3 whole games off him in 2002 and he has since beaten Big Arv 3 & 3, Jamie B 3 & 4 in Knoxville late last year and Josh 4 & 4 in Wimby Q this year.
It's certainly not an impossible match for Boggo to win if he's in top form, but it'll be very tough, especially if he's carrying an injury. Still, he's had a long rest from singles since winning his first match, whereas Kendrick has only just finished his.
