RE: Week 30 - Futures F28 (10k) - Denia, Spain - 11th time lucky in semis for Wardy!

Congratulations Wardy!

ALways good to see a new name added to the victory list

On thread titles personally I don't like them being changed.

It's been asked before, but can we stop changing the thread title? There really is no need for it and it spoils reading the thread, especially if you have been away for a couple of days and there are more than one round you have missed.

ashamed it was me who did that, I thought the agreement was that we wouldn't do it for threads with live scoring on them but we would in spacial cases where that didn't apply. I'll change this one back, but I'll change it again early next week to make it easier to find in future if we ever want to.

EDIT: Who was the last Brit to win a Futures on clay? Guess Murray may have done so at some point... can't think of anyone else doing so in the last 3 years though

I know that Miles McClagan won one or two when he returned, and I'd have thought Alan Mackin may well have done?

As far as I know, Murray did, in December 2004. If we count Sats, then it'll be Mackin, who won Week 2 of GB Sat 2 in May 2005.

Don't know who was the last person to win a 15K on clay was, though. All of Murray's titles were 10Ks.

Well done to James - really pleased to see him win

Didn't Morgan win in Italy on clay?

Queens this year was the 1st time id ever seen ward, and was impressed to see him take a set off safin, who somehow reached the Wimbledon semi final. For those who have seen him more how far up rankings do we think he can go?

I think top 150 is definately something he has the talent for, and the fact he was training with Nadal over last winter suggests others think he has talent to go high in the rankings as well (not forgetting he was at Ferrero's academy as well and was given a WC into ATP Valencia)

Only problem he's had in the past has been putting runs together, as he'd play a blinding match, and then follow up with a shocker the next day, which stops him getting any big ranking points.

Hopefully getting the Futures semi monkey off his back might have helped his confidence a bit. He's never won this many matches in a row before, I don't think.
