Vandeweghe got another wild card. She's becoming the female version of Donald Young with time.

I just realised that she started tennis at age 11! That's unbelievable these days because many girls start touring at that age.

Whether or not the injury had any bearing I am not surprised by this result. When you play at a higher intensity than you are used to one week (as she did against Mirza and Bartoli) then there is often a reaction the following week. Anne benefited similarly when playing Errani in Kolkata, the week after her first Tour semi
