Finally breaks through to win 7-6(4) 4-6 6-4 but much more of a struggle than expected.

Mel has never qualified for a WTA event, something she needs to redress quickly. This is an opportunity as Hrdinova is a decent player (ranked 174, near her career high, qualified for Wimbledon and beat Katie in Dubai qualifying) but not an outstanding opponent for final qualifying in a Tier 2 event.

You are right about Auckland. The bad loss you refer to was against Agnes Szatmari in Bangalore. who went on to beat a local WC

 

I thought Alla would make light work of Monqiue but this is draggin on a bit now aswell. Looks like i'll be in bed before mel starts.
