Both Anne and Mel playing here with Anne being a DA and Mel playing in qualifying. The qualifying draw should be out in the early hours of tomorrow morning and the MD in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Hopefully Mel can continue where she left off at wimbledon and get closer to the top 100 and Anne can continue from where she left off this week in stanford and get a bit closer to the top 50 not to mention breaking the top 75 as she will be 76 next week. Its a much stronger field this weeks so although it will probably be a tough match whoever she plays in the first round, Im sure she will be able to tough it out. She has to have taken a hell of a lot of confidence from her match yesterday and now she hopefully believes that on her day she can beat almost anyone.
Good luck girls!

COURT 5 - Start at 10:00 AM (6pm BST) 1. Olga Puchkova RUS vs Darya Kustova BLR 2. Ashley Weinhold USA vs Regina Kulikova RUS 3. Melanie South GBR vs Katsarina Zheltova BLR
The first match on Mel's court features Olga Puchkova who managed 26 double faults against Georgie last week. Well she appears to be going for the WTA record this week - so far 23 doubles in 8 service games, and they have just split sets, so there's a set left for her to go for it!
At least she won the first set, but it involved the typical WTA match where there were 6 breaks of serve!
Does seem surprising that she's struggling, but as it's her first match since Wimbledon, she's probably just getting back into her stride of playing matches again... or she's just having a bad day on court and is having to struggle through.
There is a Katrina Zheltova from Belarus playing for Sacramento State Uni, California and she is a very good player for college standard. I believe it's the same Katsarina that Mel is playing and that could explain why she's struggling.
