Still, that's some scoreline against Bovina! Will she do qualies at Stockholm next week?
I still find her success at these events hard to believe. This year is all about getting experience, but next year she could move up the rankings very quick. The LTA are spending a lot on her, but for once it's totally worth it.
Sarah is down for qualies in Stockholm, but unless there is a change of plan Amanda will be at a 75K event on clay in Italy.
Tomorrow's oop:
Court 1 2. Dushevina vs Ruano Pascual (NB 4:30 PM - 3.30pm BST) 3. Suarez Navarro vs Zakopalova 4. Elliott/Han vs Obrez/Prislan
Court 2 2. Martic vs Kerber (NB 4.30 PM) 3. O'Brien vs Pironkova 4. Martinez Sanchez/Parra Santonja vs Besser/Kambic 5. Borwell/Nagle vs Jans/Rosolska
Amanda's partner retired from her singles today, so that match is not guaranteed to go ahead.
Katie did beat Pironkova at Eastbourne last year, but the Bulgarian has improved dramatically since then, moving from outside 100 to the top 50. Worryingly Pironkova has only lost in the first round 3 times during the past year.
Hopefully Amanda can take heart from this experience (she never seems to go down tamely when she does lose does she?) and go into the 75K and cause some damage.
Oh, okay. It will be kind of weird if she is playing on clay next week after hard courts here, especially in the hard court season. But no one has a right to question her schedule given how well all the risks have paid off this year.
