Sarah Borwell is player doubles here with an American partner Courtney Nagle. In their first round match they will play Melanie Klaffner (AUT) and Katarina Kachlikova (SVK). Interesting decision to play on clay, but I guess it's a chance to improve her doubles ranking and earn some more money. Maybe she had intended to play qualies for singles (as she would have made the cut) but didn't due to playing the Felixstowe final???
Looks like they will be playing on Wednesday. Won't be easy to switch surfaces so quickly, but in the long term it could earn Sarah consideration for the Fed Cup team when the Europe Zone 1 reverts to clay, as a doubles specialist who can play well on this surface would be very valuable. She intends to play Tour level doubles as much as possible.
Sarah wasn't on the singles lists here according to TennisForum.
So much for "won't be easy to switch surfaces so quickly"!
As a result Sarah will enter the top 200 for the first time when the next rankings come out, and take over from Katie as British No. 2. Sarah has nothing to defend for 3 months, so has a good opportunity to climb the rankings further.
The QF will be tough - against top seeds Iveta BENESOVA, CZE and Janette HUSAROVA, SVK who have a combined ranking of 56
The match is on a court and time to be arranged tomorrow - which may or may not have live scoring.
