George bottled it, much like Anne did in her match, and was broken back as she hit 2 DFs in the game. The only difference is, Georgie wasn't 5-0 up... 4-4

Yeah, Anne gets 15 points which is really needed in her survival in the top 100. I know she just got here but with 25 in lexington, 35 in Vancouver, 25 (I think) for the US Open, and finally, 65 in Kolkata to defend, it is a pivotal couple of months for our number one. It will be interesting to see if anne will attempt to defend the 65 in kolkata or go to the tier II in that week (forgot which one it is) and play there..
Having said that, if she plays just solidly in this hardcourt season and in the fall, she should stay in the top 100. And she has a lot of places where she can gain points in the first half of next year.

She was 4-2 up in the first and as gotten to 30-30 and 15-30 numerous times on Larcher De Brito but it seems that Larcher De Brito was taught in the same way as Maria by Bolletieri and is very mentally tough. I hope Georgie can start taking her chances because she had GPs at *4-5 and had a BP at 0-0. COME ON GEORGIE!!

Well done to Anne for qualifying here, and she looks to be in great form in the qualifiers, so hopefully she can get the nicest of the draws and win a first round match
Sania Mirza reached the final here last year, so has the worry of defending lots of points. She has struggled this year with injury, so it may be a good time to play her. Her 'A' game should be too powerful for Anne, but when it misfires (and that is quite often) she can be awful.
Larcher de Brito has won (v. Dulko) tonight but it seems unfair that with 4 qualifiers and one lucky loser the plum draw (Rodionova) goes to the lucky loser (Stosur), who duly canters through 63 61.
I think the WTA should:
a) adopt the ITF system of drawing for lucky loser spots b) when lucky loser spots are known at the time of allocating qualifiers then the lucky losers should automatically be drawn against the highest ranked players available in the draw (not necessarily the toughest, but over time qualifiers will get better draws on average than LLs, which is only fair)
