This is being played as we speak but I totally forgot to create a thread.
This is probably the third best 14s tournament in the world (anyday better than Orange Bowl) and has most top players playing (who are in Europe because of World Junior Tennis). This is in Paris and it's played on clay.
Liam is here, as are the four others who form the European top 5 at the moment. Luke Bambridge is also playing, but no girls in main draw singles.
No surprise at Bambridge losing to Skattum. Skattum is one of the favourites for the title (assuming he's good on clay) and is underranked because he hasn't played much.
Things going brilliantly for Liam, as Cagnina (the European number 2) lost, as did Gerlakh (number 4) and Vanneste (number 5), although the number 1, Karlovski, is still in the draw.
I am not good with rankings at 14s level, but I think Liam will be number 1 if he wins the tournament but Karlovski loses his next match (i.e. quarters). That's not very easy but not impossible, either.
Liam plays Karim Hossam (African 14s champion at the moment) of Egypt in the quarters. It's difficult to judge Hossam's level given he doesn't play in Europe full time, but he has won both the Cat 2s he has played this year. Plus, he played Tarbes, where he split sets with Gerlakh before retiring, so one thing is certain - he's far, far better than his ranking of 56.
