RE: Week 28 - Challenger ($50K) - Granby, Canada

so i guess this should garuntee alex a ranking of about 210.
widom is definately a winnable match, although obviously is having a good week, esp taking out Go. i am guessing a big server.

ps i'm not doing a steven, i have to be up this early to go some where biggrin.gif

Boggo will win this one because he hates losing semis. wink.gif Since 2005, he has lost in just 2 of his 10 semifinals.

It's great to see Boggo winning three matches in a row smile.gif

QF: (5) Alex Bogdanovic WR 237 beat (3) Gary Lugassy (FRA) WR 230 by 6-3 2-6 6-4 biggrin
SF: (5) Alex Bogdanovic WR 237 v Todd Widom (USA) WR 358 (CH=200, Aug 2006)

Leading into this week, Widom had won only 2 of his last 9 matches, and got beaten convincingly (2 & 3) by Stakhovskiy in Wimbledon qualifying, but has clearly hit some form this week. The last Brit he played was Elliot Change, whom he beat 1 & 1 in Nottingham qualifying two years ago. Against Brits you are more likely to have heard of, he beat Del in three sets and Jonny Marray 4 & 1, both way back in 2004.

Another good win for Boggo, and great to see him the semi finals again of a challenger, and he looks to have got himself sorted out and he is back where he belongs.

A 3 set win is good for the confidence as well as he came through a tight situation with him losing the second set, and didn't go to pieces as he has done in the past.

He should beat Widom, who is no more than a journeyman pro who'll never make the top 150, but these are the kind of players he's lost to in the past, and he's always a shaky favourite.

I'd be disappointed if he didn't make the final though, and Niemeyer and Udomchoke are definately beatable in it

Udomchoke won the first semi 4 and 3, so Boggo should be playing now.

Does that win take him back into the top 200, or does he have to win the final as well?

3 easy points for anyone who bothered to turn up to Aptos qualies for next week.

3 ranked players or something in the qualies draw...

Josh, it's not certain as at the moment, as the player ranked 200 has 197 points. A Bog will have 199 if he loses the final, which may or may not get him there - depending on the results of others.

A win in the final would see his ranking go up to around 185.
