Shame that all the Brits lost, but I suppose none of them was ever expected to win their match, and they did their job this week which was to take a ranking point.
I guess it means Jonny can prepare for Manchester now and get some rest, but it would have been good for him to beat Klein, but at least my praise of Klein has something to do it so I don't have to eat my words about him (would have liked Cox or Marray to beat him though)
(And Thiemo de Bakker is in a challenger semi in Holland, so it looks like my highly praised juniors are starting to come good this week; all we need now is Chekhov to reach the final here, and Martin Klizan to remember how to play tennis again, and my predictions will be looking good)
OOP says they are playing 2 rounds here today, so the QF results should be out at some point later today, if they did indeed play them
The QFs were indeed played too yesterday, producing another spectacular bashing from Bam Bam!
QF: Neil Bamford WR 690 beat (5) Matthew Ebden (AUS) WR 393 by 2 & 2
SF: Neil Bamford WR 690 v (4) Brydan Klein (AUS) WR 334 or (7) Greg Jones (AUS) WR 467 (6-6 in the 1sst when play was suspended)
Neil's QF win will see him rise about 60 places on Monday week. Another win (which seems unlikely, but then so did the last two!) would see him get close to his career high of 555, two more wins would see him better it.

I dont know about this "players getting a rest" theory. Josh is still playing doubles for example, he got beat pure and simple. A good result for Neil but a very poor one from Josh.
Goody's having a better time of it in the doubles: he & Bamfs beat Eichenberger & Ianuzzi 3 & 4 & will face Ebden & Klein or Fitzy & Bayet in the SF, while Corrie & Wire sprang another surprise, beating Raja & Sharan 7-6(7) 6-2. They play Sadik Kadir (AUS) & Shane La Porte (USA) in the other SF after they dumped out the third seeds, Mankad & Singh!

Disappointment all-round in the dubs. Ebden and Klein go through via a w.o. Kadir and La Porte just got the better of Corrie and Wire 4-6 7-5 [10-8]. Another close one but another one slipping through Brit fingers. Nonetheless a fine performance from a wildcard pair.
Shame for Bamford that he lost, but a great week for him nonetheless, and no disgrace in losing to Klein who's justified my hype and reached the final (and should win the thing now)
