Obviously not in the nightclub! doh

If he needs a mentor to tell him that going to a club till the early hours is a bad idea before playing a grand slam doubles then you can forget him.

Everything suggests to me that Dan hasnt 'got it' yet. Lets hope he does one day soon before he's just another promising British nobody stacking shelves at Sainsbury's and telling his mates down the boozer how good he cudda been.

It doesn'yt look like there was much action today in Felixstowe.

ATP has a fresh order of play on for Tuesday and an updated FQR draw.

Only one player is throuh to the FQR so far - Tim Bradshaw who beat Orion Modobe 4 and 1.

Nope, no Eaton... meaning that BBC article today looks a bit stupid, especially if the info from it came from the LTA, as with only 8 qualifiers in the draw, Eaton pulled out before qualifying began, so the LTA have been feeding the BBC incorrect information

WC's to Cox, Marray, Milton, Rice, and Thornley snuck into the draw....

Hang on.... the drawsheet says Kelly was the last DE at 1027.... and Cox is ranked higher than that, and was above him on the entry list.

So Cox has a WC to a tournament that his ranking would have got him in directly!

So by giving Cox a WC when he didn't need one, someone else has missed out on a WC here.

Marray, Thornley, Milton get qualifiers, Rice has Kelly, Bamford gets Eichenberger, Goodall has Sharan, while Cox is rewarded with a match againt Brydan Klein!

And just noticed Pablo Martin-Adalia, the clay loving Spaniard who beat James Ward last week is here!!!

Singles starts on Wednesday (weather permitting) there are no indoor courts here, so they could really be in the soup.

Already miles behind and with shocking forecasts for the next few days, they have got hard courts and I noticed that some of the qualies were going on on hard courts but they might dry quikcer but are still no good when its actually raining.

Jonny will play winner of Cox and Klein if he beats his qualifier, hope it's Cox, Klein seems to be well thought of though, and won Aussie open juniors anyone know what he's like?

Klein? If he doesn't make the top 100 I'd be shocked, and I think he's a got a great chance at the top 50.

Has a pretty good serve, big forehand, solid backhand, has good touch at the net.... doesn't really have a lot, if any, weaknesses.

Ward did beat him at Surbiton, but had to play flawless tennis to do so (brilliant match it was... shame it was only seen by about 10 spectators, if that).

I'd expect Klein to beat Cox, and to be honest, I'd have him as favourite against Jonny.

He does have a suspect temper though, so if Jonny and Dan can get to him and wind him up, he's liable to explode and it could affect the quality of his tennis

Bit harsh of the mail to dredge Willis's AO punishment up again. He's done well since then...

Today's play didn't move things on very much (I have horrible visions of this tournament being abandoned halfway through R1 and nobody getting more than 1 point - if so, what with that, 'Surbiton' and no Nottingham Challenger, it won't have been the grassiest of grass seasons, will it! cry)

QR1: Luke Campbell beat (WC) Joe Cooper by 5 & 3 smilecry

QR2: (q1) Marcus Willis WR 1099 leads Nick Cavaday UNR by 6-4 5-2
QR2: (q13) Timothy Bradshaw WR 1598 v Orion Modebe UNR
QR2: Alex Parry UNR v (q2) Alexei Grigorov (RUS) WR 1152
QR2: Luke Campbell UNR v (q14) Stephen Hoh (AUS) WR 1598
QR2: (q3) Daniel Smethurst WR 1156 leads Mark Verryth (AUS) UNR by 3-2
QR2: (q10) Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 1417 v James Langford UNR
QR2: Michael Thompson UNR trails (q11) Andrew Gregory (AUS) WR 1459 by 4-6
- winner to play winner of (q4) Ze Zhang (CHN) WR 1162 v Marvin Barker (AUS) UNR (6-4 1-2)
QR2: (q5) Kyle Brassington WR 1175 leads (WC) Matthew Short UNR by 7-5 2-2
QR2: (q15) George Coupland WR 1687 leads Mathew James UNR by 7-6 0-1
QR2: (q6) Edward Corrie WR 1279 v (WC) James Smith UNR
QR2: (q9) Jonathan Kinsella WR 1333 v Neil Pauffley UNR
QR2: Matthew Pearce UNR v (q7) Baptiste Bayet (FRA) WR 1279
QR2: (q16) Richard Wire WR 1757 is tied with Ben Pritchard at 2-2
QR2: Ashley Watling UNR leads (q8) Clifford Marsland (AUS) WR 1313 by 6-3 2-6 3-0
QR2: Dominic Hodgson UNR leads (q12) David Bidmeade (AUS) WR 1513 by 1-6 6-4 6-1

Changes in bold italic
- Ashley Watling seems to be doing very well, while I think the latest score in the last match must be wrong, else why would it be on the OoP saying 'to finish'! evileye

Bad draw for Coxy! doh.gif This tournament is particularly unlucky for him in terms of draw - he got Mankad in 2006 and Alun Jones last year.

Can't be helped, of course. And if he's 100%, he can pull off a win.

Good to see Willis and Watling do so well in qualies.
