Week 29 - Manchester Challenger [€30K+H] - 2008.

As above, I think Jonny was intending to use his PR for Manchester and then he's expecting to go off to Brazil to play in two challengers there I think, but havent been able to find the entry list anywhere yet. Think Chris Eaton could be nailed on for a WC, dont you?

RE: Is Manchester Challenger Entry list out yet?

The list should have come out either today or yesterday, but the LTA aren't exactly going to have the list on the website, well, I wouldn't have thought so anyway.

It should appear on MTF at some point soon but it relies on someone getting hold of the list and then posting it.

Is it not available on the ATP Playerzone then? Cos if not, it must be a nightmare for these challenger players to find out whether or not they made the cut for the tournaments

It's not out. Tennisteen has Dell'Acqua as the second alternate, so cut will be 385ish.

Nah, they'll be up in the PlayerZone.

I think that someday you should get a password, Dan. wink.gif You're eligible to have one. Costs $ 250 a year, though. ashamed.gif So we all will need to share it.

My mole may be springing into action again!! I am hoping to have a copy of the entry list a bit later, Jonny is in the main draw with his PR of #303 and the cut off's around 395!!

Anyway, if I get it I'll put it on here.

Once again, security at LTA headquarters has been breached and the secret entry list of the Manchester Challenger can be revealed.

Anyone who foolishly thought that this sort of information might be actively publicised by those running the tournament have been shown up for the fools they are!!

Maybe someone could change the name of the thread to Manchester Challenger

Bit disapointing boggo is not entering as there is a good chance of easy points as the draw is really not all that strong. But is good to see a strong british contingent here in manchester. Hopefully slabba can go deep into this as he needs a good run in a challenger in my view.

MI5 are on their way. Good to see Bloomy make the cut but his ranking will need to pick up very soon.

It doesnt look that strong in ranking terms but it's packed with people who want to play on grass. Loads of big strong Aussies and Eastern European hulks, hope all of our guys can do well, especially Jonny of course, but dont be fooled by the rankings there are some big big servers in that list.

I agree that Boggo should have played it tho' of course he could always get a wildy.

Apparently Chris Eaton's not decided whether he wants to play it yet, but would hope that he will.

i had hoped alex would play here, but i guess he has decided he wants to get on the hard courts as soon as possible. i think there would have been a better chance of him picking up points here, but without notts its rather isloated now (save for futures) and would mean tirp back and forth acroos the ocean, or to isreal and maybe the more hard court practice he gets the better it will stand him for the rest of the year.

RE: Week 29 - Manchester Challenger [35K+H] - 2008.

Wild cards will almost surely go to Skupski and Cox as this is their local tournament. Plus Eaton is a shoe in.

My wild cards would go to -

Eaton
Evans
Ward
Cox, if he does well at Felixstowe as then he'll be tired. Or else he should do qualies - more chance of points there and the WC will be freed for some other young player.

I don't want Skupski as a WC as he's perfectly capable of qualifying.

Mind it, there's a Futures on grass in this week, so there may be loads of players who will opt for that.

Would be very harsh to give Evans one ahead of Skupski, surely we should reward the fact that he's got to where he is in just one year on the tour and he's a pretty decent player on grass.

I'd go Eaton
Skupski
Cox
Ward

hmmm wow thats an open field.....about 10 players who could win it

pavel chekhov is a w**ker

watch out for Brydan Klein he has a huge game, no one will want to get him first round.....Slabba can beat any of these guys though on a good day and he's among the huge servers....will need some big pts here to make that uso qualies cut-off

Yes, it's a fascinating tournament. Because of when it comes in the year, and its isolation everyone who is there has specifically decided to come over to britain for 1 week to play on grass, so they all think they've got a chance. When you're looking through the draw, all of those Aussies will be big servers you'd think, certainly Smeets, Groth and Armstrong are, then you've got Ryderstedt, Vacek and Bloomers all big servers, Eaton will probably be there I would think, not going to be many easy games going out.

What's Slabba defending between now and US Open cut off, I'd think he's very much a long shot isnt he, only about 4 or 5 weeks left to make the cut- going to be very tough.
