I guess it shows how much of the difference between Boggo and the top 50 is simply how much better the ones that make it to the top 50 play the big points.

Tough luck Alex. Uncanny how many aces Bolelli played down the centre on crucial points. Alex might have missed that first set point in set 4 but at least he went for his shot that time. He really should be ranked higher.
I think that game is Boggo's career in a nutshell, decent player, looks capable of competing at that level but had four second serves to have a go at - two set points at 5-6 15-40 hit one into the net one long, and at 66 5-4 one long one in the net, these were gentle second serves on big points, and he looked totally unable to handle his nerves on those big points and tennis is so much about the big points, until somehow he can continue to play his best tennis when it's the big points he isnt going to ever go beyond where he is.
I remember when Jonny played Grosjean last year. Seba is past his best and the game was very close most of the way through but getting into a break point or a tie breaker and Seba suddenyl plays better tennis than he has the rest of the game, he was able to raise his game because he knew this was the moment to be absolutely at this best with Boggo at the moment the opposite happens!
Bolelli was stronger than I expected though I think a strong grass court player might show up his level for what it is so it cant be considered anything other than a decent draw and a wasted opportunity.
Hope Boggo can leave it behind him and enjoy the rest of the grass court summer but more importantly find a way to get better on the big points!!
I think that Boggo needs to be kept away from WCs of all sorts for at least two more years. Nothing wrong with today's match - he was up against a top 50 player and the performance was okay, but I think he needs to believe that he is good enough for this level, which means qualifying.
i think overall alex played well. he sreverd really well cept for the game after the bad call and was only broken once in 4 sets. unfortunalty he only broke Bol once too.
bol played better than i was expecting, didnt look as lost on grass as i would expect, and found his game quickly. often came up with the big serves when it mattered, his shots were ocasioanlly wild but thta biog forehand got him out fo trouble so often.
Alex defiantly fluffed the 4th set sp chances and at the end ofthe TB, but he just seems to have no luck at wmby what so ever. i am sure if he drew berlocq then berlocq would have the game of his life. what he needs to do is find the way to play on those points, he tried to be agressive and go for it and it didnt come off, he tried to play safe and it didnt come off. hopefully he can put it behind him quickly. i think his level of tennis is good at the moment, bol is top 50 after all, he needs to try and get up and running on the american hard courts qucikly and get some challenger wins unde rhsi belt to put this behind him.
I hope the umpire does get reprimanded for the mistake, as i think it was a turning point in that set. Its one thing to make a mistake on a close line call. its another to call a point finished when its not, a professional error as opposed to a judgement error perhaps, and then award that point to the guy who clearly lost it. if the ball had dropped in accordance wit her call and landed on alex's side would she have replayed it? of course not. Alex didnt lose his top but if clearly effected him as he hit . i think murray would have turned the air blue iof that happened to him.

Disappointing report on BBC website. Doesn't give enough credit to the quality of Alex's play. He didn't win but he played pretty well and deserves more credit than he is given.
1829: BBC Radio 5 Live correspondent Jonathan Overend reports that Bogdanovic's LTA funding is about to be withdrawn. Boggo, it should be pointed out, claims to know nothing about that. But here's Overend: "The LTA has gone on record as saying Brad Gilbert's contract will expire after the US Open but I don't think it will be any surprise at all if they part sooner than that and it's my understanding that Alex Bogdanovic won't be receiving any further assistance from the LTA towards his coaching. An awful lot of investment has been made since a very young age, he has got through more coaches than virtually any other player the country has ever had. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to have been able to strike up any sort of relationship with his coaches over the years, the Brad Gilbert experiment hasn't worked - it's been a ridiculous waste of money - and with seven matches and seven defeats he is unlikely to get another wildcard at Wimbledon."
1823: Alex Bogdanovic is facing the press. You would never guess from his demeanour that he had just suffered his seventh straight Wimbledon defeat - against a very beatable player. Here's his thoughts on his partnership with Brad Gilbert: "I don't think we expected to get better results. They're not going to come in a few months. It's just a matter of time until I get back to where I was and break the top 100. If I put in the effort I did today I don't see why I can't be a top 100 player."

I think Caroline Cheese, the woman doing the online text coverage, didn't even watch the match. And if she did then she obviously doesn't watch much tennis. No wonder everybody is against british tennis when bbc give people like her the freedom to air her absolutely rubbish and false opinion to such a vast audience.
I've always thought that BBC have people like Cheese and Phil McNulty for shock value. That's the only reason people will go back to read the drivel that they think of.
aparently the point overend is saying about alex's funding came up in the press confercne, soome aksed alex that question. it could be specualtion. alex doesnt know anyhting about it. it could be just like the lta to act on the face/results and not look beyond at the performance. one again it seems alex is taking the flak for the fact that they messed up the gilbert deal.
lets face it it wont be the 1st time the lta use alex as a scape goat, but then he'll put in a few good perfoamces and they want him back and things go donwhill again.

just had a look atthe stats - boggo won 2 more points than bolelli. they both had bp stats of 1/6. and of course they were all very close in the other areas, boggo was even ahead in the recieivng points/% won.
i hope he isnt too down after this match its not like the vs kim where he layed rubbish and was out classed. yes the press will be all after him, but they always are. they dont really give a sh1t any other time of the year but it easy pickings at wimby. does anyone think baker or eaton would have won that match?
