LOL I'm incredibly happy and definitely not trying to put a downer on it ... but I do really want to see a Brit use something like this as a springboard to bigger things (Murray did, of course) - Chris is younger than our recent Wimby winners have been (again, other than Murray), so I think he could - he certainly showed that he has the nerve for a big occasion! smile.gif

9 enter and 4 remain. Still not brilliant but much better than previous years

Add on South and Cavaday's performances, and glimmers of light.

I'm not quite sure what happened with Katie O'Brien at the end , losing 7 straight games, after being in a great position in the second set.

Just good to see Jamie Baker playing again, and I hope he just now gets matches under his belt, even if a few futures.

Boganovic didn't play badly, but  frustrated.gif

Mr Eaton, bravo! Stunning match, brilliantly played, excellent tactics... brilliant! Good lad! And against a "maybe I'll turn up today... maybe I won't" player like Tursunov... think I fancy his chances if his serve is up to scratch like today!

Jamie cry.gif Although I'm a little disappointed, there's a part of me that isn't all that surprised. I hope this time next year he'll be back on track physically so we'll be celebrating a win.

Two-a-piece for the girls and boys. 100% better than last year at this stage.

Pretty good day's tennis for the Brits today. Fabulous from Chris, fun match bw Murray and Santoro but Murray is still not convincing me re his potential to beat the top of the top - too many long ineffective rallies - excellent effort from Naomi, good win for Anne but disappointing from Katie. Wonder what happened?

Please put Murray's next match on centre court on Thursday as that's when I'm going!

Well its been said...two men and two women into R2. Take that at the start of the week.

Fab how Eatons parents could not even watch the last few points....almost surprised that the Beeb was still showing this court that late on...!

Im sure they will have fun (He & Slabba) playing the Bryans tomorrow in the dubs !

If Murray had Eaton's serve he would have already made a slam final

Well, murray's fastest serve was 3 mph faster than Eaton's and he had a faster average 1st serve speed. It's just that his second serve is mediocre. Upping the 1st Serve % would also be good.

Nowt for Chris & Alex to lose on Court 19 tomorrow, so why shouldn't they just go out & enjoy themselves?  They may even learn a trick or two! wink

Just wanted to add my congratulations to Chris - I really felt for his Mum and dad during those tense final minutes!

I'm delighted, too, to see Jamie back, even though he's clearly not yet physically himself ; I'm confident that with increasing fitness will come improving results till he's where he deserves to be in the ranking lists.

I don't know whether any of you have tried the link on my top 25 table to Chris's website today (the small o, meaning that it was more than a year out of date), but it's had a major revamp today biggrin http://www.chriseatontennis.com/

Embarrassingly enough I cried.

Well done Chris! clap.gifw00t.gif

Can't wait to read his interview transcript!

Anyone know who the coach was courtside? I recognised him from Queens last year.

Checked out Chris's website as suggested and guess this describes us all pretty well -

'Eaton is known only to the most dedicated anoraks who follow the British tennis scene'

(from a Mailonline article)

xfm are talking about eaton, with the dj (alex zane) defending the fact he has a knackered car after the news guy made a comment about it.

came up with the slogan 'eaton cant be beaten' not bad.

Pity I couldn't watch it as I had a match myself, but what a great win for Chris. I'm downloading it off the Wimbledon website now and I will watch it in full.

I would have thought a picture of anyone's butt would be pretty scary   biggrin

- ladies excepted, of course.

Note: sorry, Hoose and Steven, I realise you both resisted the urge, but I just couldn't, this time!
